Full job description
Position summary:
The Accessioning Technician I is the entry-level accessioning role that assists laboratory personnel in daily accessioning activities and performs pre-analytical processing of specimens and a variety of clerical and data entry duties in support of department.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Performs pre-analytical processing of specimens into Pathagility database.
2. Receives, sorts, and performs accurate data entry for all specimens entering the laboratory.
3. Receives, interprets, and processes written/electronic requests from the laboratory.
4. Follows appropriate handling requirements for specific specimens.
5. Identifies and documents situations that may adversely impact test performance or reporting of results. Notifies management of situation.
6. Rejects incorrect or inappropriate specimens. Performs retesting using the same or alternate methods.
7. Operates a variety of data entry equipment to transform, transcribe and verify source material to computer-readable media; enters into database and retrieves data from computer terminal according to established guidelines.
8. Verifies accuracy, validity and completion of transcribed data by computer verification,
proofreading computer display or printout, or other applicable methods; make corrections as necessary. Compiles reports from existing records; assists with special projects by searching computer files and gathering records as requested.
9. Performs a variety of clerical duties in support of department.
10. Answers, screens and directs phone calls.
11. Retrieves, prints and faxes test results and cumulative reports utilizing the laboratory computer system.
12. Processes and files form requests, records, receipts, and related laboratory paperwork.
13. Generates daily pending log and other reports, as required by management.
14. Assists in training new employees, as directed by management.
Non Essential Responsibilities:
1. Performs other duties as required.
Education & Experience:
1. High school diploma.
2. Proficiency in medical terminology.
3. Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Documents.
4. 1+ Years of Previous data entry experience, preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
