College students or graduates with subject specialties in Fundraising, Operations, Administration, Business, Accounting, Communication, Client Engagement, or Religious Studies would be the most natural fit for this position.
JOB SUMMARY
The Advancement Generalist Intern will support fundraising administrations for the Advancement department in NCRD, including assisting the Assistant National Community Relations and Development Secretary and the Fund Development Director with day-to-day administrative tasks, financial tracking, reporting and partnership administration tasks.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Advancement Generalist reports to the Assistant National Community Relations and Development Secretary, and may support the work of the Senior Fund Development Director, and other advancement staff as necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ADVANCEMENT ADMINISTRATION
Support the administrative functions of the advancement team within the National Community Relations and Development department.
Perform a wide variety of tasks for the Assistant National Community Relations and Development Secretary and Fund Development Director as needed.
Answer general inquiries as instructed by the Fund Development Director.
Foster positive relationships with Salvation Army donors and partners.
Interpret policy and use sound judgement in performing tasks.
Develop briefs and presentations for the advancement department.
Research, analyze and organize advancement data.
Process and reconcile expenses.
Assist with donor mailings by printing, labeling, and preparing mailings.
Generate donor reports to ensure goals are being tracked.
QUALIFICATIONS
Commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army.
Must be able to exercise sound judgement and impeccable confidentiality in dealing with donor personal data, and in working with confidential high-level advancement information.
Excellent attention to detail.
Some experience in databases.
Good written and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Bachelor’s degree or degree in process
Work in the office, in person.
Able to provide references.
WORK HOURS & DURATION
9am – 4pm on any three weekdays up to 25 hours per week for 8-10 weeks. This is an in-person position at the NHQ location in Alexandria, VA.
