Full job description

The Salvation Army's National Community Relations and Development (NCRD) department supports advisory organizations by providing essential resources and tools so that every unit in The Salvation Army has an effective advisory organization.

JOB SUMMARY

The Advisory Organization Development Intern will identify resources to fill gaps on the AOHub, find additional resources to support Salvation Army advisory boards, and collect contact information for advisory board leaders nationwide, creating a comprehensive database for easy storage and retrieval.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The intern reports to the NCRD Operations and Project Management Director (OPMD) and supports the OPM team as needed.

Advisory Organization Development Resources

· Review existing resources on the AOHub and compare them to the Standards of Excellence Operations criteria. Identify gaps.

· Identify potential sources of additional resources to fill gaps.

· Provide recommendations to the OPMD regarding tools and organizations to enhance volunteer boards' ability to achieve the Standards of Excellence.

National Advisory Board Resources:

· Review board management software and find ways that the NAB can use it more effectively.

· Document workflows in National Advisory Board meeting processes and create systems in project management software to streamline implementation.

· Assist the OPMD, AO Manager and Administrative Specialist with administrative tasks as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Understanding of board leadership and management is helpful.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.

· Some experience with databases.

· Good written and communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to conduct online research.

· Bachelor’s degree or degree in process.

· Able to provide references.

· Commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army.

WORK HOURS & DURATION

· 9am – 4pm on any three weekdays (including Wednesdays).

· Up to 25 hours per week for 8-10 weeks.
