After-School All-Stars NJ is seeking experienced, highly skilled, energetic, organized, and solution-oriented leaders to join our youth enrichment team.

ASAS NJ ASC-PLs are experienced ASSISTANT SUPERVISORS OF 3-12 person teams and FACILITATE DAILY CLASSES/ACTIVITIES forK-8 grade scholars. ASCs support site coordinators in the management of site partners, youth, family, and staff experiences.

POSITION INFORMATION

TITLE: ASSISTANT SITE COORDINATOR (Assistant Supervisor, Enrichment Instructor)

PAY: $20/hour, non-negotiable; WE DO NOT MATCH CERTIFIED TEACHER PAY

LOCATION(s): Various school sites in Newark and Paterson, NJ.

TENTATIVE EARLY FALL-LATE SPRING HOURS:

Monday-Thursday 2:30-5:30 PM; Friday 11:30–5:30 PM (Newark Sites)

Mon, Tues,Thurs, Fri 2:15-6 PM; Wednesdays 11:30–6 PM (Paterson Site)

Monday-Friday 10 AM–3 PM (Shift 1 - NPS Sites)

Monday-Friday 1–6 PM (Shift 2 - NPS Sites)

Monday-Friday 8 AM-4 PM (5-6 hour shift ACCS Site)

ROLE DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

SITE & STAFF SUPERVISION & MANAGEMENT

  • Commitment to attend work daily, on time for full shift
  • Assist the oversight, supervision, leadership, coaching, and empowerment of site staff team(s)
  • Daily lesson/activity instruction/facilitation
  • Lesson/activity planning
  • Cultivate inviting, safe, orderly environments where staff & scholars thrive
  • Implement chapter & site policies/procedures, with documentation and tracking
  • Maintain professional & positive relationships
  • Facilitate & model collaboration to ensure the smooth delivery of program offerings
  • Identify engaging content for youth learning, leadership, and family engagement
  • Daily sharing of program/staff feedback with the supervisor
  • Effective and timely communication with staff, partners, scholars, and families
  • Weekly/monthly site update check-ins with site partners and manager(s)
  • Attend and actively participate in, and lead professional development trainings, workshops, and meetings

PROGRAM DESIGN & EXPERIENCE COORDINATION

  • Collaborative & proactive strategic planning to site, scholar and staff needs
  • Ongoing student recruitment to meet attendance requirements
  • Plan end-of-session/culminating showcases, family/community engagement & external collaboration events

STUDENT SUPERVISION & SAFETY

  • Ensure the supervision of all scholars; no student alone, no 1-1 private interactions
  • Have and know accurate student counts at all times (overall & per offering/activity)
  • Knowledge of procedures & protocols with readiness to respond to urgent/emergencies, ensuring the safety of all students, staff, and self

DATA MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure the tracking and monitoring of student and staff attendance daily
  • Facilitate the collection of and maintenance of accurate scholar data ensuring on-time submission/upload

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

IDEAL CANDIDATES - Are highly skilled and have quality supervisory/management experience, familiarity with and passion for working with Newark/inner-city youth, and at least one year of instructional or related youth development program experience.

  • Eligible to work in the US with children; clear fingerprinting, background, and Tuberculosis checks'
  • Some post-secondary undergraduate or technical career study
  • Available to work the assigned work schedule without conflict
  • 1 year of supervisory/management experience
  • 18+ months of formal (non-family) experience with children in large group instructional, coaching, or camp settings
  • Love working with children; connection/passion for Newark/inner-city youth
  • Strong classroom/group/staff management skills
  • Excellent proactive planning, and organizational skills & familiarity with basic computer software programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with district & program, parents, & community leaders
  • Effective communication with sensitivity to others & swift response to critically urgent incidents
  • Ability to professionally and positively give & receive feedback while implementing/enforcing necessary changes
  • Compliance with the company, site, and/or school district/network policies/protocols

ADDITIONAL or PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 18+ months of supervisory/management experience
  • 2+ years of formal (non-family) experience with children in large group instructional, coaching, or camp settings
  • Experience creating lesson/activity/unit plans or multi-week curriculum
  • Familiarity and experience with diverse populations and cultural competencies are strongly desired
  • Familiarity with youth development principles for elementary & middle school-aged youth
  • Expertise in one or more of (but not limited to) the following areas*:

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 17 – 22.5 per week
