Full job description
The Williams YMCA of Avery County is proud to offer After School for all 5 elementary schools in Avery County (Banner Elk, Crossnore, Freedom Trail, Newland, and Riverside Elementary schools). After school will be held on site at each school for the duration of the school year (August 14, 2024-May 28, 2025). We are looking for Site Coordinators that can work Monday - Friday from 2:00 - 6:00pm.

Site Coordinators will have training on August 5th (9am-5pm), August 9th (9am-4pm), and August 12th (9am-4pm). The first day of After School will be on August 14th.
We are looking for strong, creative, and enthusiastic individuals that would like to make a difference in the lives of the children in our community. The After School program Site Coordinator (SC) is a part-time position and is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the after-school and summer programs under the direction of the Program Director. The SC is committed to quality and provides leadership, supervision, coaching, and support to program staff to ensure desired program goals and outcomes are met.
The After School program Site Coordinator must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals, and vision for serving the community. Other important responsibilities include the following:
1. Administers the day-to-day operation of the after-school program, ensuring compliance with the prescribed fidelity and quality markers.
2. Designates, supervises, and coaches teaching staff, youth development facilitators, and volunteers.
3. In partnership with the school staff, promotes the program and student recruitment to ensure targeted population and optimal enrollment.
4. Maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with supervisor, appropriate Y staff, school administration, and community partners to successfully implement the program.
5. Prepares program schedule and plans for snacks and meals.
6. Evaluates program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses.
7. Ensures timely reporting of evaluation requirements.
8. Provides ongoing communication with the parents/caregivers.
9. Attends required trainings and participates in support calls as needed.
10. Collects and shares “Bright Spots” – stories of impact from the program.
11. Develops relationships with school and community stakeholders to communicate the goals of the after-school and summer programs and ongoing concerns about student needs.
12. Upholds and exemplifies the YMCA’s Core Values and principles of Character Development.

Experience:
- Childcare: 2 years (Preferred)
- Administrative or Supervisory: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
