Full job description

Job Summary:

The after school teacher must be a certified teacher. S/he will be responsible for contributing towards the academic achievement of Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation’s youth program participants by implementing afterschool academic tutoring and STEAM enrichment services to meet Louisiana Department of Education 21st Century Community Learning Center academic, youth development and family engagement goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops (or implements provided) lesson plans/instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
  • Communicates with Site Coordinator regarding student’s academic and behavior successes and improvements needed
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
  • Ensures safe dismissal of students upon completion of daily afterschool activities
  • Participates in staff meetings and professional development sessions, as required
  • Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment

Minimum Experience, Education, & Licensure /Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with children in a classroom setting
  • Certified teacher
  • Strong behavior management skills

Salary Range:
$25 per hour

Time Commitment:

Mondays - Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:30 pm

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to plant and office environment including occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
