Full job description
James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn seeks Afterschool Group Leaders in its licensed school age childcare program, Project Learn. Positions are available at both our Hurld-Wyman Elementary School & Linscott Elementary School sites. Applicants should meet the requirements listed and have a passion for working with school-age children.
Responsibilities for Afterschool Group Leader:
- Maintain teacher-child ratios and child safety at all times
- Provide students with homework assistance & academic support
- Implement proper behavior management techniques
- Supervise children to ensure safety and appropriate behavior and manage transitions
- Work to meet daily duties/needs of the program and be responsible for making sure that materials are ready for use and put away at the end of the day
- Participate in at least twelve (12) hours of professional development per year
- As appropriate, participate in events based within the school and the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn
- Abide by established EEC school-age policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines
- Work with the Site Coordinator to assist in the development and implementation of a well-balanced curriculum of specific, planned learning experiences that support the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and language development of all children
- Daily interaction with parents/guardians to update them on children's progress
- Assist in the completion of annual progress reports
- Perform other duties as required by Director
Applicants should be available to work Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit (at times on the floor with children) and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age and meet the EEC requirements for Group Leader
- High school degree required; some college preferred
- Previous experience providing classes/programs/activities for youth
- Effective leadership and group management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excitement and positive attitude toward working with children
