Application Design & Technical Support Specialist- Lighting Controls
Location: Wallingford, Connecticut

About this role:
A successful Application Design & Technical Support Specialist understands the lighting controls requirements of a project by reviewing construction documents and engineers’ specifications. The Application Design & Technical Support Specialist works closely across our network of sales agents and/or customers to design lighting controls systems that meet the projects lighting controls requirements. The Application Design & Technical Support Specialist will use Bluebeam software to generate the requested project outputs from internal and external customers. Requests range from lighting controls layouts/designs, quotations, product crosses and bills of material.

The Application Design & Technical Support Specialist will also provide phone based technical and sales support to both internal and external customers such as electrical contractors, sales agents, end users etc.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Review of project drawings, and construction contract specifications to establish project requirements.
  • Design lighting controls systems based on construction documents, specifications and/or sales agent/customer directive.
  • Utilize Bluebeam design software to design, provide project bill of materials, develop quotes and single line wiring diagrams.
  • Serve as a technical resource to both internal and external customers.
  • Provide phone based technical support; utilize problem solving and communication skills to troubleshoot any issues and propose the best solution.
  • Possess and maintain a solid understanding of SENSORWORX controls products portfolio as well as competitor products.

Qualifications and preferred skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant technical experience.
  • 0-2 years experience.
  • Experience using design software such as AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring and circuitry.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electric plans, construction, and engineering documents.
  • Prior experience communicating technical information to both technical and non- technical audience.
  • Demonstrated history of working both independently and within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a start-up environment where working in close collaboration across various teams and departments is essential.
  • Willingness to learn and work on tasks outside of this role’s “Key tasks and responsibilities” as the business requires.
