Position Summary
The Apprenticeship Readiness Life Coach is responsible for day-to-day execution and case management for ARC’s Second Chance Apprenticeship Readiness Program. This position reports to the Director of Workforce Development & Education. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and committed to restorative justice and supporting the formerly incarcerated community.
ARC's Second Chance Apprenticeship Readiness Program, developed in partnership with the LA/OC Building Trades Council and an educational partner, aims to equip formerly incarcerated individuals with skills for union apprenticeships in the building trades. The 11-week program includes two weeks of professional and life skills training by ARC, followed by an Apprenticeship Readiness course aligned with union standards. Cohort members receive stipends for financial support and transition to independent living. Upon graduation, participants receive ongoing support for their chosen career path, including referrals, cash resources, legal aid, and mental health services.

Essential Job Functions
- Build candidate network through ARC's membership and local community agencies, holding monthly information sessions.
- Recruit, interview, and select candidates, conducting orientation and interviews.
- Prepare cohort members by assisting with identification, workshops, and readiness assessment.
- Execute two-week Essential Skills training focused on professionalism and essential life skills.
- Provide ongoing case management support and connect cohort members to necessary resources.
- Offer case management services through in-person/virtual meetings, ensuring goals are met.
- Participate in contracted projects and connect members to supportive services.
- Document activities and interventions in the ARC database promptly.
- Attend staff meetings, conferences, and requested events.
- Collaborate with direct services staff to communicate upcoming events and opportunities.
- Coordinate care with members' services team when additional support is needed.
- Ensure timely documentation of services and referrals to on-site therapists.
- Support administrative team in completing program reports.
- Communicate with program partners for seamless service delivery.
- Provide follow-up services and tracking for cohort graduates.
- Organize team building and networking opportunities.
- Lead daily workouts and weekly hikes.
- Perform other assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Counselor, Case Manager, and/or group facilitator, with essential skills in case file maintenance, group documentation, and contract compliance.
- High School Diploma/GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Preferred minimum 2 years' experience working with the re-entry/formerly incarcerated community.
- Keyboard data entry is required.
- Experience in trauma-informed programming and/or conflict resolution is ideal.
- Strong collaboration skills and extensive knowledge of community resources, with a focus on higher education, entitlements, and services.
- Skills:
- Problem-solving abilities in a restorative justice/supportive capacity.
- Highly motivated with excellent multitasking and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Experience with case management or treatment-focused database preferred.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team.
Additional Requirements
- Reliable transportation and a current California Driver's license with valid registration and insurance.
- Physical ability to sit, drive, handle objects, and perform various movements.
- Close attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask or willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Salary/Benefits
- Pay rate is $24.00-$26.00
- Multiple employer medical/dental/ vision plans with up to 100% employee coverage, 50% for dependents.
