DOE HQ ProForce ARMORER
JOB TITLE: Armorer
LOCATION: Germantown, MD 20874 &/or Washington, DC 20585
WORK TO BE PERFORMED: On Site and off-site work, potentially some telework
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full Time Employee
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Some limited travel may be required within continental US
SALARY RANGE: $70,000 to $85,000
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Primary lead armorer for small arms and individual weapons assigned to DOE Headquarters Protective Force. Responsible for inspection, maintenance, repair, recalls, warnings, notices, and DOE updates. Provide subject matter expertise related to weapon system selection, maintenance, manufacture nuances. Primary weapon platforms are Glock and AR/M4 type systems. Work is conducted primarily at DOE’s Germantown, MD building and/or DOE’s Forrestal, DC building; but also the FLETC facility, MD; Shadow Hawk facility, WV; NCRTC facility, MD; and Academi facility, NC.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited university or college. Two (2) years of experience may be substituted for one year of post high school education.
Experience:
- Three (3) years’ experience in tracking and inventory of commercial or government property.
- Current certified Glock Armorer or Glock Advanced Armorer.
- Completed the DOE Basic Armorer Certification Course.
- Current certified factory armorer course.
- Meet and maintain DOE Security Police Officer I standards as defined by U.S.C, 10 CFR 1046 and DOE Orders and Directives.
- Certification for the appropriate Instructor Level.
Other:
- Valid Driver’s License
Clearance:
- Secret or DOE L
Essential Functions:
- Applicant must have demonstrated knowledge, capability, and responsibility for inspecting, maintaining and repairing all firearms in the Protective Force inventory.
- Applicant must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with particular emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
- Applicant must demonstrate the ability to produce reports, presentations, and other detailed documentation with minimum direction.
- Applicant must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively through oral and written means.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DOE L, Q or TS/SCI clearance
- Current certified factory armorer for AR/M4 carbine type weapon platform.
Physical Demands:
- Long work hours may be periodically required.
- Lifting and moving of heavy items.
- Periodic travel within the Continental U.S. may be required.
