Full job description
Assistant Editor
Viident Co.
Are you an editor or writer?
Do you love the written word to a concerning level?
Do you find great satisfaction in correcting the tiniest mistakes like thiis one?
If this sounds like you, this could be an awesome fit…
This is editing. This is book publishing. This is writing and drafting and proofreading and copyediting and more. But it’s editing with a small, unique independent publishing company built by an entrepreneurial thought leader and New York Times bestselling author, Matthew Kelly. (www.matthewkelly.com).
We’ll spell it out clearly:
- You’ll support the editorial team in all phases of reviewing, proofreading, and editing upcoming books published under Viident’s various imprints.
- You’ll collaborate with authors, the design team, and marketing to ensure our world-class titles are polished and published on schedule.
- You’ll read submitted manuscripts and pitch proposals to the editorial team and Matthew Kelly directly.
- Want to have the opportunity to write? No worries, writing will also be a part of your gig, as you’ll draft the Matthew Kelly weekly newsletters for his vast email list.
Publishing isn’t as easy as it may seem, but it’s so worth it. We hit hard deadlines and pivot onto new projects in the blink of an eye. You’ll have to be efficient and accurate while under high stress. You’ll have to be creative and meticulous all while collaborating with a team of individuals who all have different insights than you.
If you gulped while reading that – move on. If you’re thinking, I love a good challenge and I’m not afraid to get the work done, keep reading.
