The Opportunity: Assistant Editor

Are you a passionate storyteller with experience in journalism? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where your work can make a real impact? If so, Peake Media wants you to join our team as an Assistant Editor. This role is ideal for someone with a background in newspaper, magazine, or online journalism who is eager to grow with a dynamic company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Content Creation: Collaborate with our editorial and creative teams to produce compelling stories and digital content, including videos, for our print publications, websites, and social media platforms.
  • Editorial Support: Assist with editing and proofreading magazines to ensure high-quality content.
  • Production Management: Help manage the operational aspects of sending publications to print, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Creative Input: Generate story ideas and contribute to the brainstorming process for articles, videos, and social media content.
  • Digital Engagement: Manage social media accounts and other digital marketing assets, including email marketing.
  • Visual Storytelling: Arrange photo shoots for various projects (no prior experience required—we’ll teach you!).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Journalistic Experience: Minimum of 1 year in journalism, with a strong portfolio of published work.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with a keen eye for detail and knowledge of AP Style.
  • Team Player: A positive communicator who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
  • Self-Starter: Someone who takes initiative and thrives under deadlines.
  • Fun-Loving: We believe work should be enjoyable—our team values laughter and camaraderie.
  • Bonus Skills: An interest in health/fitness, experience with SEO strategies, Google GA4 analytics, and multimedia content creation are all pluses.
