Provides students with significant cognitive disabilities with an individualized program that will enable them to reach their fullest potential.
EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED:
- AA Degree or 60 College Credits or successful completion of the ParaPro test with a score of 464 or higher.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
REQUIRED:
- Valid Florida Driver License.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The tasks/competencies listed below represent most of the time spent working in this position. Supervisor may assign additional tasks within the scope of this classification as necessary.
1. Assist in maintaining equipment for this curriculum area in a safe manner.
2. Assist in maintaining inventory records of equipment.
3. Assist in preparing daily lesson plans, units, or themes.
4. Assist in the instruction of students using daily plans and documentation in plan book.
5. Perform supervisory duties as assigned by Principal.
6. Assist in preparing the area for physical education instruction.
7. Perform other incidental tasks or services consistent with the job goal of this position.
8. Use appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking of students.
9. Assist in using appropriate instruction strategies and materials that reflect each students’ culture, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic background.
10. Fulfill the terms of any affected written contract and adhere to the Codes of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida.
11. Monitor students in a testing environment.
12. Assist in the enforcement of all federal, state, and district regulations, policies, and procedures.
OTHER DUTIES:
Performs other duties as assigned commensurate with the skills and abilities of the position. Provides outstanding customer service and uses positive interpersonal communications skills. Makes all decisions and performs all tasks in accordance with Emma Jewel Charter Academy's strategic plan, vision, and mission. Ensures compliance with Board Policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
JOB RELATED:
Considerable knowledge of development of children in relation to physical education curriculum and identifying needs of students. Considerable knowledge of health and safety procedures involved with the monitoring and supervision of students. Skilled in preparing daily lesson plans and reports as required by supervisor. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written communications. Good knowledge of care and maintenance of physical education equipment.
GENERAL:
Knowledge and use of time management and organizational systems. Skill in meeting and exceeding customer/stakeholder expectations within the precincts of policy, procedure, and sound judgement. Skill in active listening and social perceptiveness. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to sustain focus and attention to detail for extended periods of time.
