Are you interested in getting into broadcasting? Do you love videography? Capturing the moment? Attention to details? We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to support our digital content photo capturing and broadcasting of our Sunday morning worships service. We have one PZT camera, but are interested in two. We currently broadcast to one channel, but want to expand that to 2 or 3 channels on Social Media.

Our progressive church is seeking to expand our outreach and create a more engaged digital ministry. This new member of ours staff will work closely with our Pastor to enrich our current broadcasting.

We are an Open and Affirming and Racial Justice Seeking congregation. Our leadership and new dynamic minister are looking for someone to partner with to create an intimate, personal, and engaging broadcast experience for social media and other broadcasting platforms.

Job Title: AV Technician

Reports to: Pastor

Pay: $23/hour

Job Status: PT (2 hours/wk). Weekly hours would typically be from 30 minutes prior to and 30 minutes after the worship service on Sundays and other special services. Additional time may be scheduled with the Pastor’s approval on selected Sundays to provide volunteer training.

Summary: The AV technician is responsible for operating the audiovisual (AV) system as well as coordinating and scheduling a team of volunteers who can run the AV system either independently or working alongside the AV technician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

These duties and responsibilities may change from time to time, as determined necessary and prudent by the Pastor and Council.

· Make sure the AV system is turned on and fully operational when the worship service begins.

· Make sure microphones are properly placed and in working condition for the needs of each service.

· Manage the production of live broadcasting of worship services in coordination with volunteers, which includes capturing AV recordings of worship services for later editing and reposting by church staff.

· Assist pastor with digital presentations for worship services, as needed.

· Attend worship on Sundays and if needed, on selected religious holidays to capture and broadcast sermon/worship service including Christmas Eve Service.

· Work with musical director and accompanist to assure AV system provides appropriate coverage and balance for choirs and soloists.
· Provide hands-on training for volunteer AV team.

· Make sure written resources for essential tasks are available to volunteers, such as checklists for operating the AV system.

· Provide positive encouragement to help keep volunteers interested and engaged.

· Be prepared to indicate whether specific volunteers are ready to operate the AV system independently when the AV technician is absent.

· Maintain a year-round schedule of who will operate the AV system at every worship service, including those services that will not have a live broadcast.

· Share the AV coverage schedule with the pastor and church staff as needed.

· Recommend maintenance and improvements for the AV system as needed.

· Assist with staff and volunteer AV questions and needs.

Qualification Requirements:

· Knowledge of and experience with AV systems is required. This knowledge may be associated with either professional or volunteer work.

· Knowledge and/or experience in live broadcasting and volunteer coordination are an advantage.

· A person of faith with ability to communicate a message of hope to multiple generations across a variety of media platforms is desired.

Education:

Coursework in AV-related issues is an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills: This position requires:

· Knowledge of audio and video processes for live and recorded broadcasting.

· Ability to work with staff and volunteers, while being open to direction and constructive feedback.

· Ability to be flexible and shift priorities.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Benefits: No benefits are provided. Any missed service is unpaid.

Background Check Required along with Safe Church Training

Coverage of Absences: Notice of absence/vacation should be coordinated with and approved by the Pastor. A minimum of two weeks notice for any absence is expected, except in the case of illness. AV coverage by volunteers should be coordinated in advance of any planned absence. In case of emergency, the chair of Personnel and/or the Pastor should be notified.

After six months paid time off may be an additional benefit.
