Full job description
Manzanita Cooperative is launching California's first modern processing facility for acorn and other native tree-nuts this year, to be located in Mendocino or Lake County.
We are seeking a hungry sales rep who can dive in and generate B2B sales for acorn flour, starch, oil, and tannins to drive pre-sales ahead of our launch and line up revenue..
This position is remote from anywhere in California.
You will get paid based on what you produce and earn 40% of gross margin for the first 3 months of purchases on any account you win, and 5% from there for the next year. Your targets will be diverse - from restaurants & bakeries at the low end to whales in the Consumer Packaged Goods space. Work on your own schedule from anywhere in California. Travel as much or as little as you need to.
The ideal candidate is deeply aligned with our mission to make high quality native foods available and accessible. Tree nuts are an $8B industry in California, but our native nuts are completely ignored. We are going to change that. As climate change accelerates and droughts deepen, moving to native nuts like acorn that require no irrigation instead of thirsty almonds will benefit all Californians. Bulk sales and pre-sales in particular are a critical part of our launch strategy and you will have a tremendous impact on our success.
About the Company:
Manzanita Cooperative is a majority worker-owned and democratically run Cooperative corporation. Our current founding team of 6 includes experts in online sales, marketing, crop science, bioinformatics, manufacturing, and harvest operations.
Our mission is to address the growing crisis of food insecurity as climate change causes rapidly increasing crop failures by bringing dry-farmable climate-adapted native Californian foods to the mainstream. We need mission-driven co-founders who are passionate about sustainable native foods and are willing to take a leap of faith.

We expect a similar level of collaboration and accountability from all team members and our management team must set the standard for everyone else.
Responsibilities:
- Drive B2B Sales for a unique and dynamic foods company.
- Learn everything there is to know about Acorn & tannins, their uses, and who wants to buy them - from livestock feed to consumer processed goods manufacturers to tribal food programs and other bulk buyers.
- Map out a robust sales strategy and then execute on that strategy.
- Help identify potential partners and build relationships that can grow the business.
- Actively manage your own workload with minimal supervision to ensure achievable goals and deadlines are set and met on schedule.
- Put out fires. Identify things we haven't thought of and proactively deal with them. Be awesome at every opportunity.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years' of Sales experience and a proven track record of success.
- Highly self-motivated and results driven. By 30 days in, the rest of the team should wonder how we ever got along without you.
- Strategic planning and business development experience
- Strong written and verbal and presentation skills
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Experience with B2B sales
