Full job description
Position Summary:
The Branch Supervisor is a key member of the branch management team, responsible for overseeing daily teller operations, delivering outstanding customer service, and supervising teller staff. This role blends the operational leadership of a Head Teller with the relationship-building and service skills of a Personal Banker. The Branch Supervisor supports efficient branch operations, ensures compliance with bank policies and procedures, and provides coaching and guidance to teller staff. In addition, this individual works directly with customers to understand their financial needs, recommend appropriate products and services, and foster long-term banking relationships.
Under the direction of the Assistant Branch Manager, this position's purpose is to support the office in various supervisory, customer service, operational, and administrative functions. The right candidate should have a previous banking background and at least two years of supervisory experience and is required to work two Saturdays per four-week month and three Saturdays in a five-week month.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
- Maintain and balance a teller cash drawer daily and report any discrepancies to the Assistant Branch Manager or Branch Manager.
- Provide prompt, accurate routine tasks, including making deposits, withdrawals, transfers, issuing money orders or cashier checks, receiving loan payments, cashing checks, etc.
- Oversee cash handling procedures, daily balancing, and branch controls while ensuring compliance with audit and reporting requirements. Maintain oversight of key banking systems—including the Vault, ED Machine, ATM, and Card@Once Machines—to ensure they are operational and available for use.
- Supervise teller line operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to bank policies and compliance standards.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex transactions or customer concerns.
Customer Service & Sales:
- Open, service, and maintain personal and business accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Build strong customer relationships by identifying needs and recommending appropriate solutions. While assisting in all other customer service-related customer requests and inquiries and promotes and sells bank products and services to customers based on their individual needs. Cross-sell and refer customers to specialized partners (e.g., mortgage, investments) when appropriate.
- Provide Call Center Support - for consumer and business in-bound calls, emails, as needed.
Leadership & Development:
- In collaboration with the Talent Development Manager, responsible for the supervision, coaching, and performance evaluation of the Teller Team and assisting with staff development. Maintains harmonious relationships with staff and resolves conflicts as they occur.
- Lead by example by modeling excellent service and cross sale behaviors.
- Be aware of training and development trends for teller staff that require additional training.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of retail banking supervisory experience, preferably in both teller and customer service/personal banker roles.
- Strong knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent internal and external communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions.
- Fully understands all Teller/PB operational procedures and policies
- Well versed in all WSB products and services
- Has a strong attendance record and is reliable
