Scope of Position:
The Base Manager is responsible for overseeing customer transportation contracts in a manner that meets both the client and company needs, including overseeing the daily activities of drivers and bus aides, dispatching routes, and acting as the primary point of contact with regard to communicating routing changes, environmental conditions, and fleet updates. This position will also support the management aspects of contract supervision, including personnel management, safety/training, overseeing work activities, supporting Health and Safety documentation and implementation, as well as communication with customers, Site Manager, and others. In addition, the Base Manager is responsible for adhering to corporate policies, establishing contract supervision goals, annual reviews, and acting as a role model for other employees to ensure all procedures are followed as required.

The position follows a typical work week, but it is anticipated that the Base Manager may work longer than 40 hours as the position is one of a professional nature where accomplishment and execution take precedent over specific hours.

Working Conditions:
Normal office environment, spending approximately 20% of time away from the office, subject to change based on company needs. Travel includes but is not limited to visits to other Cedar Bus locations, meetings with Cedar Bus customers, organizational partners and clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe work environment, using all Cedar Bus procedures and resources.
  • Point of contact and communication tp program managers and house managers.
  • Coordinate and verify any transportation route changes as submitted from the individual agencies; track weekly for proper billing adjustments.
  • Open/Close the building by performing all necessary tasks to launch routes and close out the day.
  • Ensure opening & closing reports are sent nightly.
  • Send weekly recap.
  • Ensure routing box and Azuga are accurate and updated with vehicle and driver information.
  • Ensure trips in routing box are completed weekly.
  • Perform site visits & conference calls with program staff for responsible accounts and/or agencies.
  • Communicate and schedule shop repairs, PM's, and DOT inspections. Communicate repair cost with fleet manager.
  • Oversee employee scheduling to ensure there are no gaps in coverage.
  • Complete reviews of routes for efficiencies and needed adjustments.
  • Investigate accidents and injuries, and prepare reports of findings.
  • Partner with HR on recruiting, conduct interviews and new hire on-boarding, conduct & maintaining OJT files.
  • Manage, track and report working hours for all employees, maintain budgeted hours.
  • Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
  • Ensure adequate number of buses are available & coordinate bus transfers as needed.
  • Recommend personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, improvements, and discharges.
  • Obtain and/or maintain a CDL license through the driver training program.
  • Ensure Operations Managers and leads are executing there roles at a high level.
  • Protect company assets and order supplies as needed.
  • All other job duties as assigned by Director of Operations

Valued but not required Skills and Experience:

  • Applicable transportation industry experience
  • First Aid qualified
  • Possible relocation may be required based on business requirements


  • Minimum of 5 years Supervisory experience required
  • Computer experience required, creating spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Software Programs
  • English language required
  • Valid driver's license and ability/willingness to obtain CDL
