Position Overview:
The Enrichment and Behavior Coordinator at CCHS is responsible for ensuring that all dogs, cats, and small animals in our care receive the enrichment and training they need to minimize their length of stay and keep them happy and healthy during their time in the shelter. The Enrichment and Behavior Coordinator may be called upon to assist with Adoptions, Animal Care needs, Medical needs, Expawditions, handling phone calls, and more, and therefore must have customer care skills and enjoy working with the public.
Key Responsibilities:
The Enrichment and Behavior Coordinator handles functional assessments of animals to assist in adoption matching, creating all animal care plans, oversee play groups, and provides walks, meals, enrichment, training, and behavior modification. Training and working with volunteers is an essential part of this position.
Essential Functions:

· Handle animals humanely at all times
· Ability to be waiting to be engaged (as needed) evenings and weekends
· Observe and participate to learn current enrichment and behavior policies and procedures with an eye toward future improvement
· Focus on all animals in our care to insure that we are meeting their needs to the best of our ability and to insure they are on a timely path to adoption
· Implement the change from behavior evaluations to functional assessments
· Create and implement care and training plans, and behavior modification plans when indicated, for animals in our care
· Help to coordinate medical care, including grooming
· Assist in regulating the flow of animals through the shelter in accordance with policy
· Perform dog meets when required between adoptable dogs and resident dogs of potential adopters
· Form and supervise playgroups
· Make sure dogs are taken for walks throughout the day
· Assess any animal behavior concerns that are noted by staff and volunteers
· Conduct evaluations for volunteers to advance to new levels
· Ensure that staff and volunteers follow all protocols
· Assist with Expawditions
· Handle behavior-related phone calls
· Write reports and gather data, when requested
· Maintain office area in a clean and orderly manner including required floor cleaning
· Ensure that all data entry is done in an accurate and timely fashion including pictures, descriptions, behavior information, and training notes
· Notify appropriate person of any concerns that need attention
· Report any maintenance or other issues to the appropriate person
· Report any incidents, changes, or concerns to the appropriate person
· Maintain a professional and personable attitude with co-workers and the public alike
· Remain calm and flexible in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment
· Exhibit the ability to resolve conflict and function effectively in an emotional atmosphere
· Perform other duties as needed in our team-oriented culture
Additional Duties:
· Ensure we are meeting NYS Standards
· Work with Volunteer Department on volunteer trainings
· Work with the Foster Coordinator on foster placements
· Assist with off-site events when needed
Position Requirements:
· Education and/or certification in animal behavior
· CGC Evaluator (a plus)
· Valid Driver's License
· Organizational Skills
· Animal Welfare Background
· Customer Service Experience
· Ability to work rotating weekends and rotating holidays
Required Trainings:
· Fear Free Shelter
· Blood Borne Pathogen (annually)
· NYS Harassment (annually)
· Other Trainings as Defined

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
