AGENCY OVERVIEW
Yolo Community Care Continuum (YCCC) is a non-profit community-based organization serving individuals with serious mental illness.

This position at Safe Harbor Crisis House, located in Woodland, is a 24-hour short-term crisis residential facility.
*This position is expected to work Overnight (11:00pm-7:30am)*
Hiring is contingent upon a full background screening in accordance with California licensing regulations; DOJ/FBI clearance, pre-employment physical and TB clearance. DMV printout and Basic First Aid certification is required prior to employment.

Yolo Community Care Continuum is a nonprofit organization established to better the lives of people with mental illness through direct services, advocacy, education, and volunteer efforts. Yolo Community Care Continuum strives to excel as a dynamic presence in our community. Our goal is to provide client-driven services that assist people to attain the highest level of mental health possible.
The Safe Harbor Crisis Residential Program is designed to offer short-term, crisis-oriented care. Our goal is to stabilize the immediate crisis and help the individual transition to ongoing care based on the individual's needs. Safe Harbor (SHCRP) plays a crucial role in providing immediate clinical care and support to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. The referral process to SHCRP is designed to provide ease of access. That means that there is a minimal number of forms to be completed by the referrer and the client upon admission. By having an experienced clinician managing the referral process SHCRP is designed to provide care to those in need in an expeditated manner.
The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing direct service to clients and for facilitating the smooth day-to-day operation of a voluntary residential mental health facility. Behavioral Health Tech collaborates as a member of a multi-agency treatment team to develop and implement effective treatment strategies. This is a non-exempt position.
BHT’s:
Line staff at Safe Harbor Crisis Residential Program (SHCRP) are the frontline workers responsible for providing direct care and support to individuals in the program, all crisis residential clients (<4 days), and longer-term (>4 days). Their roles are crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of clients during their stay at the SHCRP. The BHTs work collaboratively with the clinician and specific duties of line staff may vary based on the needs of the clients, but their primary responsibilities typically include the following:
Client Supervision: Line staff are responsible for monitoring and supervising clients to ensure their safety and the safety of others. This involves regular check-ins, observation, and intervention in case of any concerning behavior or signs of distress.
Crisis Intervention: Line staff are trained to de-escalate crises and manage challenging behaviors. They use communication and intervention techniques to help individuals regain control and reduce their emotional distress.
Assessment: They may assist with initial assessments to gather information about the client's current mental health status, their immediate needs, and any potential risks. This information is then used by the clinical team to determine the most appropriate course of treatment.
Client Care: Line staff provide basic care to clients, which may include assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, eating, and medication management. They ensure that clients' physical needs are met.
Safety Measures: Line staff are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment within SHCRP. This includes removing potential hazards, ensuring clients do not have access to harmful objects, and following safety protocols.
Documentation: Accurate and timely documentation of client behavior, observations, and interventions is a critical part of the job. This documentation is essential for tracking progress, communicating with the clinical team, and meeting legal and regulatory requirements.
Medication Administration: Line staff are continuously trained on medications and are responsible for administering non-injectable medications to clients as prescribed by medical professionals when the nurse is not available.
Client Interaction: Line staff engage with clients in a supportive and respectful manner, offering emotional support and a listening ear. They may also assist with recreational activities and social interactions to promote well-being.
Crisis Prevention: They play a role in identifying triggers and potential crisis situations and work to prevent escalations. This includes implementing strategies to reduce stress and anxiety for clients.
Collaboration: Line staff collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, such as therapists, nurses, and peer support workers, to provide comprehensive care to clients. They share observations and insights to inform treatment plans.
SUPERVISION/REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Behavioral Health Tech reports to the Program Director (and Associate Director if applicable).
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Coursework in psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
Experience: One year working with individuals with behavioral health issues, preferred.
Knowledge of and belief in the principles of patient-centered treatment. Knowledge of medications and mental health treatment preferred. Follows and applies psychosocial rehabilitation model.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a team member. Excellent communication skills, both oral, and written. Able to use Office365 products, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Teams.
Must obtain a negative TB test or chest x-ray and clearance on an employment physical. Must be able to lift twenty pounds, view and utilize a computer, documents in writing and/or typed form.

STAFFING AND TRAINING REQUIREMENT
- You must be able to meet staffing and availability requirements. Schedules may be a variety of mid-shifts, swing/evening, graveyard and/or weekend shifts or as program needs.
- Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility. Employees are expected to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start. Employees are expected to remain at work for the entire work schedule.
- Attendance of monthly staff meeting is required
- Follows sick policy and provides proper notification of absence and tardiness in accordance with YCCC’s policy
- You may be directed to work at another agency site when necessary
- Annual training hours required: 20 hours per year
- Completion of the Plan of Supervision is required

Direct Service
- Prepares meals as per weekly menu and cleans up after meal service; meals will include meat items
- Cleans with use of chemicals like bleach and ammonia-based products
- Performs medication passes and assists clients with medications

- Is present at and oversees client activities
- Ensure completion of household chores by clients
- Ensure that milieu is clean, safe and in compliance with Medi-Cal and Community Care Licensing requirements
Communication and Outreach
- Inform Program Director of significant events in a timely manner
- Coordinate with other treatment providers
- Advocate for clients
- Function effectively as a treatment team member
- Demonstrate professional courtesy
- Make appropriate referrals for clients to other services in coordination with Program Director
- Follow up with Emergency Department for medication list and appropriate paperwork
Documentation
- All charts, program documentation, MARs, incident reports, and other forms/reports are completed according to the following criteria:
o Timely
o Objectively (behavioral observations are recorded accurately)
o Thoroughly
o Legibly
- Correctly follows documentation procedures
- Treatment plan goals are developed in tandem with the client and are time-limited, observable, measurable, and achievable
- Progress Notes are to be completed during the shift
