Qualifications

• High standard for quality work.
• The ability to perform basic sizing, soldering & prong setting in silver, gold, and platinum.
• Experience assembling fine jewelry in 14k, 18k and platinum from scratch.
• The ability to create, use, and modify both simple and exotic stone settings (prong, channel, bezel, flush, pave, and more).
• Wax and mold making experience.
• Proficient with both torch and laser for soldering and welding.
• Proficiency with microscope, engraving equipment, and plating equipment.
• Performs custom repair work as necessary.
• Can perform a wide range of complex jewelry repairs on customer owned merchandise while maintaining JTJ quality standards.
• Maintains constant awareness of security issues involved in operating a jewelry repair shop; follows procedures and guidelines for job management and opening/closing.
• Responsible for ordering materials, findings, and tools needed to keep shop running.
• A minimum of 5-7 years experience, ideally in a high-jewelry environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• The ability to have difficult conversations about work quality that does not meet standards (own work, work of direct reports, work of contractors).

Responsibilities

• The Bench Jeweler works closely with executive leadership to achieve quarterly and annual objectives and is responsible for modeling, supporting and adherence to company values.
• Bench Jeweler will follow directions from Lead Jeweler and also pushes back during difficult conversations in order to meet company objectives.
• Bench Jeweler will work alongside other jewelers, and also includes fabrication of in-house collections in gold and platinum, as well as fabrication elements of custom-design client commissions and the completion of general jewelry repairs.
• This position is design-oriented and requires creative input for custom and in-house collections.
• The Bench Jeweler will construct and create both new and repeatable fine jewels within JTJ standards and timelines.
• Provides materials and labor estimates for custom jobs for pricing consideration.
• Carves wax models, wax and 3d model composites, and also fabricates handmade jewelry from metal, including gold and platinum.
• Show comfort and proficiency setting large diamonds and gemstones in prongs and bezels and exotic settings.
• Follows procedures & guidelines for handling merchandise.
• Responsible for cast cleaning, assembly and repair of platinum and gold jewelry of various levels of complexity with both diamonds and precious stones
• Other duties and expectations as required.

Pay: $41,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
