Position Summary

Puente de la Costa Sur is seeking a creative, energetic, early childhood Teacher Assistant to join our Bilingual Parent Cooperative teaching team. We are looking for candidates who understand the value of play and demonstrate a commitment to working with young children and families, enthusiasm, flexibility, and an understanding of the complexities of being a part of a bilingual program. A successful candidate must be knowledgeable about early childhood development and developmentally appropriate curricula and have strong communication skills (English and Spanish).

Childcare center operation hours are Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4pm.

Essential qualifications

· A.A/A.S. Degree in ECE or a related field

· Center-based work experience

· Case management work experience

· Ability to work effectively with persons of diverse socioeconomic status

· Familiar with different classroom settings

· Knowledge with childcare program regulations

· Ability to multi-task successfully and manage stressful situations

· Direct experience working with young children aged birth to three

· Successful background check and TB clearance

· CPR First Aid Certification, preferred

· Must be bilingual in English and Spanish

· Basic computer literacy skills (Word and email)

· Valid Driver’s License and vehicle insurance

· Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends (monthly family meetings and occasionally weekend family events)

Program Responsibilities

The Teacher Assistant performs a wide range of duties including but not limited to:

· Supporting Lead Teacher in a class of 8 children (ages 18 months to 36 months) and take responsibility for class when Lead Teacher is absent.

· Meet the specifics needs of children (feeding, napping, preparing meals, etc.

· Work with parents and Lead Teacher to nurture children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth

· Support the Lead Teacher in planning and developing the assessment of children’s development (DRDP’s, ASQ’s)

· Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program that is responsive to the emerging interests and needs of children.

· With Lead Teacher assistance, plan and implement 3 home visits per year and family meetings once a month.

· Collaborate with Lead Teacher and families to ensure that the program stimulates and challenges each child to develop their fullest potential.

· Maintain a clean environment for children and families (clean tables, chairs, toys, etc.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
