Billing Representative
Position Description:
The Billing Representative works closely with the Director of Patient Accounts. The Billing Representative is responsible for the day-to-day procedures necessary to ensure that the department completes timely and accurate billing processes.
Essential functions of this position are as follows:
- Perform billing duties which include:
- Data entry of patient charges and patient payments;
- Submit claims to Medicare and Medicaid insurance companies, etc. for payment;
- Maintain patient records financial record keeping;
- Assist patients with billing complaints and filling out paperwork;
- Mail invoices to patient or responsible party;
- Follow-up on unpaid claims;
- Process patient refunds if/when indicated;
- Create/present reports as requested by the CFO;
- Report to state agencies as directed by the Director of Home Health and CFO
- Type letters, memos, etc. and make copies as needed;
- Maintain absolute confidentiality in all matters relating to clients, customers, personnel, finances and other matters; and
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Rural Health Network Development Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent (Health Information Management Degree and/or RHIT Certification preferred);
- Minimum of 2 years of electronic health record and medical office billing experience;
- Working knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding and computer programs, such as Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Display high level of accuracy and attention to details;
- Possess excellent spelling, grammar and typing skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to quickly grasp new ideas and new approaches; and
- Ability to interact with LCHD employees and the public in an efficient, friendly, cooperative, confidential and professional manner and to ensure great customer service is provided to everyone at all times.
