Position Summary:

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Bookkeeper to handle our day-to-day financial activities in our Portsmouth, NH or Wolfeboro, NH office. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Accuracy: Conduct general ledger reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of our financial records.
  • Bank Coordination: Handle bank deposits and report account balances to management.
  • Expense Monitoring: Oversee office expenditures and cash receipts.
  • Accounts Management: Perform all accounts receivable and payable activities.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.
  • Payroll Oversight: Manage bi-weekly payroll and related remittance activities.
  • Commission Statements: Produce and verify commission statements in collaboration with management.
  • Tax Reporting: Work with our accounting firm to facilitate year-end tax reporting and filing.
  • Document Management: Ensure proper retention and archival of all financial documents.
  • Responsive Service: Provide timely responses to clients, partners, and inquiries.
  • Special Projects: Assist with various projects and additional duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Key Characteristics:

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience required; insurance accounting/bookkeeping experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and experience with Vertafore AMS bookkeeping software preferred.

Pay Range: $26.50 - $33.50 per hour, based on experience.

Location: on-site, either at our Portsmouth, NH or Wolfeboro, NH location.
