CoMotion is a fast-growing global event and media platform where the most innovative transportation and technology companies, as well as civic and business leaders from across the global mobility ecosystem explore, collaborate, and interact to share ideas and make deals.

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join the CoMotion team in Los Angeles. The Business Development Manager will report to the Director of CoMotion Initiative and will work closely with CoMotion’s Marketing team in Los Angeles and Paris. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for helping establish sales pipelines and processes, identifying key potential partners and securing partners and sponsors for various CoMotion activities, including CoMotion MIAMI in April and CoMotion LA (attracting 2000 participants) in November. The position is based in LA but we are willing to consider other options notably Miami.

Key tasks:

  • Secure corporate partners for the event and arrange activations and exhibition spaces for partners, from corporate, government, public sources and to individuals.
  • Help identify new potential partners and exhibitors and keep track of the mobility ecosystem.
  • Develop, track and maintain commercial and contractual relations with a variety of stakeholders in the event, with sponsors, exhibitors, venues, municipal authorities and production team.
  • Update funding pipeline and forecasts, project tracking and prepare weekly updates on partnership for management meetings.
  • Pitch events to potential partners, sponsors and exhibitors.
  • Create proposals that are suited to prospective partners, exhibitors and sponsors and work with the marketing team to produce high-quality partnership decks.
  • Coordinate and work closely with CoMotion’s communication team on campaigns and partners’ communications.
  • Coordinate post-event duties with partners including thank you notes, post-event surveys, event debriefs etc.
  • Coordinate networking events with key partners throughout the year (production, invitations etc.).

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (ex: Business, Marketing, Communication, Urban Studies, Political Sciences, International Relations, History, Communication); Demonstrated interest in urban mobility and transit a real plus
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Business Development or funding (can include internships, volunteer work, etc) and proven sales/partnership track record.
  • Outstanding communication skills - fluent English speaker preferred - and ability to communicate with senior officials and executives.
  • Spanish, French, Mandarin or other languages are a real plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent research, analytical and writing skills - ideally with a background/vested interest in urban mobility
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • Dynamic, proactive and creative
  • Microsoft Office, Excel and Database skills
  • Adaptable with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in high pressure environments
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, as needed and travel internationally if required
