JOB TITLE: Business Development Officer I/II/III

DEPARTMENT: Lending

REPORTS TO: President

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Officer (“BDO”) is responsible for sourcing and developing new relationships for the Bank using various sales and marketing techniques to continue to expand the Bank’s client base. The BDO is a lead generator using various personal and professional sources to search out new opportunities for Bank products. The BDO will hand off opportunities to various relationship managers (or similar) in the Bank to continue to have the bandwidth to generate new business.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Achieve established sales goals and promote various banking services to potential clients.

· Develop and maintain effective relationships with business contacts aligned with the Bank’s Strategic Plan.

· Complete cursory review of needs to pre-screen prospective clients for lending, deposit and treasury management products.

· Coordinate with team members to ensure complete client onboarding satisfaction.

· Consults and collaborates with the various departments within the Bank to ensure a smooth handoff of the client.

· Ensures client satisfaction and account retention as appropriate through quality client service.

· Handles client requests and complaints with prompt, professional and courteous attention; escalates as necessary.

· Maintain exceptional knowledge on various Bank products and associate policies and procedures.

· Keep apprised of competitor activities to be sure the Bank is always on the cutting edge of opportunities and remains relevant in the community.

· Offers input to the revision of policies, procedures, and agreements to ensure compliance with regulatory processes and ensures that deviations from policy are approved or corrected and reported to management immediately.

· Consults with Executive Management as to the risk of complex or unusual relationships.

· Identifies compliance risks and takes actions necessary to eliminate or minimize risks.

· Assures that methods and actions are ethical and in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and the Bank’s policies.

· Demonstrates a commitment to honesty, integrity, and responsible corporate behavior.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

EDUCATION

Preferred Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or related field or commensurate equivalent experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a banking sales or business development officer position.

· Background in lead generation of financial institution lending, deposit, and treasury management products.

· Knowledge of policies and procedures related to lending, deposit, and treasury management functions.

· Solid understanding of the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Community Reinvestment Act, OFAC Regulations and Fair Lending, and all applicable bank and government regulations.

· Financial and analytical skills.

· Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, including the ability to create and champion a vision and articulate it to various groups.

· The ability to be proactive and creative in identifying issues, solutions, and opportunities for efficiency.

· The ability to anticipate and react quickly to the evolving financial institution regulatory environment.

· A demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, to motivate employees and build teams and relationships.

· Knowledge of business operations, systems and practices related to banking and general business systems (i.e., Microsoft Office products).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled setting. The position may involve occasional exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting. Work is conducted in close physical proximity to others, requiring frequent collaboration and communication.

Essential functions may require extended periods of sitting at a computer, as well as occasional standing, walking, or travel to meetings, client visits, or events. The role also requires regular use of computers, including prolonged screen time for research, data analysis, and reporting.
