Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Salary: $74,006 annually

Closing Date: Open until Filled

Summary:

The Business Solutions Specialist reports directly to the Director of Business Solutions. The primary responsibility of the Business Solutions Specialist is to respond to business workforce needs through customized service solutions available through WorkForce Central and our workforce system partners. Professionals in this position generate leads and cultivate relationships, perform business needs assessments, create service delivery plans, support recruitment, training and placement in priority sector businesses and perform other duties as assigned. This position will collaborate with businesses, economic development organizations, business associations, and Chambers of Commerce. This position will become our sector lead in one of the following industries in Pierce County: Construction, Maritime, and/or Transportation and Logistics; attending industry roundtables and providing Workforce Development expertise in the assigned industry. The position works closely with other WorkForce Central staff and partners to implement agency and system goals. This position is hybrid with flexibility to work remotely and/or from the office. This position does not allow performance in a fully remote manner. However, the tasks and responsibilities of this position may, at the discretion of WorkForce Central, be performed as a hybrid work model, workingboth in the office and remotely from an in-state residence that allows for regular commuting to the office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The following are the primary duties and responsibilities of the Business Solutions Specialist position:

· Serve as a liaison between the local workforce service delivery system, economic development stakeholders and the Pierce County business community.

· Maintain and grow business relationships by facilitating access to workforce development services, which includes talent acquisition through the WorkSource Pierce one-stop service delivery system and partners.

· Create business and partner relationships in assigned priority industry with the goal of addressing labor shortages, supporting recruitment strategies and resources

· Align strategic outreach to businesses with labor market data in support of priority sectors.

· Interact with senior level business executives to assess needs and identify workforce solutions identified by employers.

· Become a subject matter expert in incumbent worker training programs and industry recognized training providers

· Facilitate employer access to employee upskilling resources and administer related contracts

· Provide data informed and business customer insights into trends in the construction, maritime, and/or transportation and logistics industry to Workforce Central staff and partners.

· Prioritize relationships and services to businesses owned by Black, Latino, Indigenous, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and other community members of color.

· Work with employers to create quality jobs and work experiences for Pierce County residents and work with partners to support training and placement of individuals into jobs

· Work in a cross functional team environment to ensure departmental objectives, work priorities and deliverables are achieved

· Utilize Salesforce and other customer relations management (CRM) systems to track business engagement and service delivery

· Assist with cross agency coordination with Contracts and Compliance, Fiscal Department and Director of Workforce Services, as needed, to conduct the following:

  • Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reporting
  • Contract development
  • Program and policy development

· Demonstrated knowledge and experience utilizing a Customer Relations Management system (CRM), preferably Salesforce.

· Knowledge of and familiarity with Pierce County business workforce needs and trends, preferably in one or more of the following: Construction, Maritime, and/or Transportation and Logistics

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Language Skills – Ability to compose reports, business correspondence and specialized reporting materials. Should be able to effectively present information and respond to questions.

· Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, research data, analyze facts, prioritize tasks, set goals, and prepare reports. Should be able to understand, interpret and communicate a variety of instructions and program guidelines.

· Interpersonal Skills – Strong interpersonal communication skills, good organization, and flexibility, work independently, have good judgment and be willing to take initiative, detail oriented, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, work well under pressure and work as part of a team. Must be comfortable working with the public.

· Computer Skills – To perform this classification an individual should have advanced knowledge of software applicable to the specific job duties that may include Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Adobe.

· Facilitation Skills – Ability to use active listening, problem solving, empathy, conflict resolution, and multiple techniques to align equitable results towards successful outcomes.

· Experience/Education – At least four years of combined professional experience and education that relates directly to the position description.
