Global Business Solutions (GBS), a leading, regional technology solutions provider since 1995 is currently accepting applications for a Cabling Technician.

This position reports directly to the Cabling Department Manager and serves as a team lead in the field. The Cabling Technician Level II position entails designing, installing, and maintaining structured cabling systems while working with low voltage technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

· Aid and direct Install copper/fiber optic computer, telephone, security and building automation cables

· Communication with Installation Manger on a daily basis

· Tracking materials

· Job site leads

· Update job site prints

· Communication with the GC’s

· Execution of job build to customer satisfaction and GBS installation standards

· Execution of wire pulling, device rigging, cable termination and testing

· Execution of timely, job-related paperwork

· Installation, termination, and testing of various low voltage cables, including Ethernet, fiber optic, and coaxial cables.

· Installation of various types of equipment including but not limited to TVs, speakers, projectors, WAPS, cameras.

· Train proper cable routing, dressing, and labeling techniques to ensure a clean and organized cabling layout.

· Lead the setup of racks, cabinets, and cable support systems under the guidance of manager.

· Train various cabling types, including CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optics, and coaxial cables

· Lead test and troubleshoot cables and connections using appropriate tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.

· Participate in cable fault identification and resolution activities to maintain reliable connectivity.

· Train and practice safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure and hazard-free work environment.

· Maintain accurate documentation of cabling layouts, schematics, and test results for future reference.

· Collaborate with experienced technicians to provide efficient technical support on projects.

· Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in structured cabling technologies to enhance your knowledge and skills.

· Train/job shadow entry level and level I technicians.

· Other tasks and duties assigned by Manager

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

· Low voltage experience (1-2 years)

· Experience in cabling (1-2 years)

· Familiarity with basic hand tools and testing equipment used in cabling installations.

· Ability to learn from experienced technicians and follow instructions closely.

· Enthusiasm to learn, adapt, and contribute to the team's success.

· Effective communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with team members and project leads.

· Detail-oriented mindset and a commitment to delivering quality work.

· Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as required.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 4-6 years experience
• BICSI II (may obtain certification within 3-5 years)
