POSITION DESCRIPTION Georgia Shift seeks highly-motivated and outgoing individuals to join our Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) campaign as canvassers! Political experiences is a plus but not required. This is a non partisan effort to reach out to underrepresented and historically-disenfranchised voters in the CSRA and to organize them to vote. Under the supervision of our Organizing Director and Field Coordinator, Canvassers will conduct door-to-door canvassing in Richmond, Burke, and Columbia counties, and/or participate in text communications at the Georgia Shift office. Canvassers will provide voter education and engage the public on the issues impacting them in their community and inform community members about Georgia Shift’s programming.
This is a part-time, temporary position, starting September 16th and ending November 6th, 2024. Canvassers work between 10-20 hours/week, weekdays and some weekend hours. The position pays $20/hour.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Educate and engage voters through door-to-door canvassing.
- Build relationships with potential voters and infrequent voters.
- Provide information about early voting, polling locations, and general election information.
- Engage voters with the work of Georgia Shift and the issues we work on.
- Complete daily and weekly reports on progress and meet all goals and metrics.
- Effectively use technology and other tools to ensure accurate and timely data entry.
- Participate and complete all required training.
- Must be able to walk for long periods of time.
QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must be over 18 years old. 2. Strong customer service, listening skills, interpersonal skills, and outgoing personality. 3. Interest and/or experience with door-to-door work, public speaking, outreach, or voter engagement work. 4. Ability to work in communities of color, low-income communities, and LGBTQIA communities. 5. Must have excellent people skills; must be comfortable speaking with strangers and people from different backgrounds. 6. Ability to learn and discuss the mission, programs, and work of Georgia Shift. 7. Must be able and willing to walk distances outside in a variety of weather elements. 8. Ability to work with other staff and canvassers in a team. 9. Ability to work under deadlines. 10. Able to work a flexible schedule, with weekday evening and weekend hours as scheduled. 11. The candidate must be located in the Augusta, GA area.
