Redwood is seeking a passionate, experienced Case Manager to join our Moving Everest School Partnership, working collaboratively to ensure that students' educational needs are met and that our services align with both state and federal guidelines.

Position Overview:

The Case Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the special education services provided to students within the Moving Everest School Partnership. This includes ensuring the effective delivery of interventions by virtual Redwood instructors, ensuring compliance with IEP (Individualized Education Program) requirements, and serving as the primary liaison between Redwood instructors and the Moving Everest Special Education and Administrative teams.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in educational case management, a deep understanding of Illinois state special education laws, and a proactive, flexible approach to problem-solving. The Case Manager will also play a critical role in monitoring IEP goals, ensuring accurate documentation, and collaborating with teachers, families, and administrators to support student success.

Title: Special Education Case Manager

Start Date: November 18, 2024 (flexible/negotiable)

Location: Moving Everest Charter School (416 N Laramie Ave, Chicago, IL 60644)

Position Type: W-2 salaried, starting at $70,000 (negotiable based on credentials and experience)

Days/Hours:

  • Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri on-site @ Moving Everest from 8:00-4:00 PM
  • Wednesdays: no students, work-from-home day

Time Off: Redwood’s annual staff contracts are entitled to thirty-two (32) days of paid time off (PTO). 22 of these days are pre-determined based on federal holidays and/or Redwood Rest days, the remaining 10 personal/sick days can be requested via your Gusto Employee Account and must be approved by your direct supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

IEP Management & Compliance

  • Oversee the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by Redwood instructors to ensure that goals are being met and IEP minutes are being delivered in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Ensure Redwood instructors monitor, track, and document student progress on IEP goals, ensuring alignment with Illinois state standards.
  • Collaborate with Moving Everest Special Education and Administrative teams to ensure IEPs are up-to-date and accurately reflect student needs.

Behavior Management:

  • Collaborate with Moving Everest to implement effective behavior management strategies in the classroom to ensure student and staff safety and effective instruction.
  • Coach Program Managers and Classroom Assistants with behavior management strategies to maintain a cohesive classroom environment.

Case Management & Intervention Delivery

  • Provide direct support and guidance to Redwood instructors to ensure high-quality, individualized interventions are being implemented effectively.
  • Regularly review and update intervention plans, making adjustments as necessary to meet student needs.
  • Monitor progress monitoring data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make recommendations for improvements or modifications.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between the Redwood team and the Moving Everest Special Education & Administrative teams, facilitating open communication and collaboration.
  • Work closely with Redwood Instructors to provide updates on student progress, collaborate on strategies for success, and ensure that the school teams are informed and involved in student’s progress throughout the school year.
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings, team meetings (weekly on Wednesdays), and other relevant educational meetings.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Ensure Redwood instructors maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, IEP implementation, and case management activities.
  • Ensure that all documentation is in compliance with Illinois state standards and regulations.
  • Generate reports as needed for internal review, compliance, and reporting to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Required: Licensed Behavior Specialist Level 1 (Special Education Certification)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in educational case management, particularly in the field of special education, within the state of Illinois.
  • Knowledge of Illinois special education laws, regulations, and best practices.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to think innovatively and adapt to a dynamic educational environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, families, instructors, and administrators.
  • A deep understanding of IEP development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with educational software and tools used for tracking and documenting IEPs and student progress.
