Center for Autism- Behavior Consultant for ABA - Now offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus following commencement of employment.
The Center for Autism (CFA) is renowned for its services to this special population. CFA is a proud part of PHMC, a leader in public health. PHMC requires that all employees are fully vaccinated with the Covid-19 vaccine before the first day of employment.
The BC-ABA provides mental health services utilizing the Evidenced Based Practice, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), to children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in the home, school, and community settings in order to sustain placement in the natural environment. This position will develop individualized treatment plans with the family and monitors client progress towards goals. The BC-ABA will supervise the implementation of behavioral assessment measures, functional behavioral assessment, and treatment plan implementation. The BC-ABA will provide consultation to BHT-ABA, providing ABA, and other involved adults in the planning, design, and implementation of the treatment plan.

  • Maintain on-going communication and collaboration with all team members.
  • Develop behavior/treatment plan and/or crisis plans with the child, family, and team that are developmentally appropriate and strengths based.
  • Develop appropriate behavioral data collection systems such that quantifiable behavioral data is collected at regular intervals to allow for the continual evaluation of treatment plans and the achievement of individual goals and objectives.
  • Graph clinical data on active treatment goals to monitor progress and facilitate any changes that need to me made to programming.
  • Utilizes clinical outcome measures and individualized data collected regularly to graph, monitor progress, update treatment plan interventions, and develops discharge/aftercare plans.
  • If applicable, supports all assigned BHT-ABA in implementing designed ABA programs by providing at a minimum of monthly case consultation and document all consultation encounters.
  • Attend interagency meetings to coordinate design of treatment plan and wrap around services recommendations.
  • Complete all required documentation in a thorough and accurate manner.
  • Participate in identifying discharge planning and discharge planning goals for child(ren) and families.
  • Travel to a variety of education and/or home environments to provide services in client’s environment.
  • Ensure Compliance with PHMC’s policies and procedures including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
  • Provide clinical information to the evaluating psychologist/psychiatrist as required or requested
  • Attend and participate in meetings, training programs, and supervision as required by PHMC and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

Staff Leadership

  • Responds promptly to the concerns and interests of the clients, parents, guardians, funding entities and other PHMC staff.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with provider organizations, regulatory and licensing representatives, and referral sources, establishing effective and productive working relationships while promoting PHMC.
  • Represents the organization before various stakeholder groups to maintain visibility.
  • Manages regulatory and accreditation contracts.
  • Serves on, participates in and attends various committee meetings.

Contributing to the Team.

  • Participates in regular meetings with staff to ensure priorities are clear, coordination is good and communications are open. Develops additional methods for ongoing effective communication.

Trauma Informed Behavior

  • Demonstrates commitment to being trauma informed and maintaining a therapeutic environment and community that promotes safety and nonviolence as the basis for all we do with clients and staff.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of trauma informed practices, including emotional intelligence, effective communication, understanding of impact of trauma on development, strengths based and person-centered practice, resilience focus and commitment to growth and change.

Administrative Activities

  • Ensures compliance with all PHMC’s policies and procedures, including confidentiality and acting as a mandated reporter in accordance with the law, policies, and procedures.
  • Implements all documentation requirements, reports are complete, thorough, timely, and follow prescribed format. Ensures staffs do the same.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Preferred, but not required: At least two years verified post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment including psychotherapy, counseling, and assessment with children and families with intellectual disabilities, mental health disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorder.
  • Licensed Behavior Specialist Consultant (LBS)
  • Must have strong applied behavior analysis skills
  • Significant experience writing Positive Behavior support plans and conducting FBAs
  • Requires strong skills in data collection
  • Ability to utilize collaborative, team oriented approach.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CASSP Principles.
  • Understanding of child and family development.
  • Crisis intervention and management.
  • Knowledge of DSM-5
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of common psychotropic medications.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to be adaptable, flexible and change activities quickly.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Access) and database management.
  • Valid driver's license must be maintained.


  • A licensed mental health clinician, including psychiatrist, psychologists, licensed professional counselors (LPC), and licensed clinical social workers (LCSW). If not licensed as defined above, must hold Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a clinical mental health discipline, such as Psychology, Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Creative Arts Therapy, and Marriage and Family Therapy. In order for a degree to count as a mental health degree, the degree must contain as least (12) credit hours in core behavioral health coursework.
  • Training in behavior analysis/modification (minimum of ninety (90) hours of course work prior to hire, thirty two (32) hours BACB-approved CEUs in a 2-year period thereafter).
  • Completion of Bureau of Autism Services (BAS) Functional Behavioral Assessment Training (FBA) prior to hire or within 60 days of start date.
  • Valid Child Abuse (Act 33), Criminal History, FBI and medical clearances.
  • Participation in and completion of all CBH mandatory in-services (must be completed within three (3) months of hire and then annually from the date of the initial training).
