Medical Assistant at Palmetto Community Health Care
Palmetto Community Health Care is seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this key role, you will provide both administrative and clinical support, working closely with patients and healthcare providers on a daily basis. We are looking for someone who demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and a strong commitment to patient care.
This part-time position is scheduled for 16 hours per week starting in January 2025, with the following hours:
- Monday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Thursday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
While this schedule is the current expectation, it may be adjusted as necessary to meet business needs. You will report directly to the Executive Director and collaborate with the Clinic Coordinator, healthcare providers, and both clinical and administrative team members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Tasks:
- Taking and recording vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate.
- Preparing patients for examinations or procedures
- Collecting and processing lab specimens, such as blood or urine samples, and preparing them for laboratory testing.
- Administering medications as directed by healthcare providers and documenting medication administration.
- Assisting with minor medical procedures or treatments.
- Patient education, including explaining medication usage, post-treatment care, or lifestyle modifications.
- Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
Administrative Tasks:
- Answering phone calls, addressing patient inquiries, and providing information about clinic services.
- Managing and maintaining patient records, including electronic health records (EHR).
- Assisting with administrative tasks, such as scanning documents, faxing, or coordinating referrals.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) certification from an accredited program.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and basic clinical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff.
- Proficient in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic computer skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- BLS-CPR certification.
