Full job description
Title: Certified Medical Assistant
Job Summary: The Medical Assistant will work directly with medical practitioners and patients to provide efficient and quality delivery of patient care.
Responsibilities:
1. Clinical
a. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to clinic procedures.
b. Obtains patients vitals including: recording temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, height/weight, and responses to standardized medical history questions.
c. Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including equipment.
d. Assist providers with procedures, treatments and interventions as needed
e. Act as a chaperone for health care providers during patient examination as requested.
f. Assist in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information in patient’s records, obtaining medical records from other providers/offices.
g. Give injections, and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy and processing needs.
h. Perform Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Waved Lab tests as identified by clinical providers and report results to the appropriate personnel and EMR systems.
2. Clinical Care Coordination
a. Schedule, coordinate and monitor appointments, tests and treatments/procedures.
b. Maintain medical records. Accurately document patient history, physical and vitals into the EMR.
c. Maintain inventory of medications or supplies used to treat patients.
d. Conduct pre-authorizations in accordance with third party insurer requirements.
Accountable to: COO
Qualifications:
1. Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program.
2. Ability to relate positively and sensitively to patients diverse in lifestyle, age, ethnicity, beliefs, socio-economic level, sexual orientation and gender identity.
3. Successful completion of a background check.
4. Demonstrate stewardship of patient information through strict adherence to all Federal, State, and Local laws & guidelines around patient privacy and confidentiality, including HIPAA.
5. Fluency in both English and Spanish, preferred.
Status: Full-time exempt
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
Compensation:
$40,000 to $45,000 per year DOE
Benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 403B retirement matching, paid vacation, holiday, and sick leave.
