The Opportunity

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is an integral member of Metrocrest Services’ executive leadership team and will collaboratively articulate, implement, and operationalize the strategic vision, mission, and goals of the organization. The COO is a Servant Leader and primary strategic and management partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The Chief Operating Officer will embrace and champion our Core Values and will lead with a Servant’s Heart. They are humble, hungry, and smart, and they consistently demonstrate leadership of self and others. They are expected to have a growth-mindset and the desire and ability to develop others.

The COO reports directly to the CEO and provides leadership and direction to the Director of Client Services, Director of Program Development, Director of Senior Services, and Director of Human Resources, along with indirect leadership and support to Operational Staff.

Schedule Commitment

The Chief Operating Officer works in-person (with some remote opportunities) from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and occasional hours outside the normal work week.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management/leadership, business, or related field

Minimum of 5 years of executive leadership

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree

Non-profit experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Operations

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the chief executive leadership team, direct reports, and other directors to create a high performing culture that advances Metrocrest Services’ mission, vision and values; set strategic plan goals and support their implementation; promote clear communication and collaboration between all departments throughout the organization to ensure succinct progress toward current goals
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to assigned director level and management staff; maintain standards through the effective coordination of activities; develops, coaches, and evaluates performance expectations of assigned staff
  • Oversee the coordination, integration, and delivery of all programs, contracts, and related services, promoting an inclusive, equitable team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively across program areas and ensuring that the expectations of funders, partners, clients and other stakeholders are consistently met
  • In collaboration with Officers, Directors, and assigned Managers, develop procedures for monitoring the quality and quantity of services being delivered for adherence to outputs, outcome goals, expected standards, and to meet grant deliverables
  • Participates in the budget development process and maintains a high level of fiscal responsibility; oversees program budgets to ensure appropriate allocation of program funding; approves expenditures; assists in budget negotiations with funders
  • Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
  • Responsible for creating the annual operational plan, in coordination with the CEO, that aligns with the Strategic Plan, “Metrocrest 2030”
  • Participate in board of director meetings, providing updates to-and seeking feedback from board members on the organization’s operating performance and effectiveness
  • Promote a culture of creative, high achievement and inspire open lines of communication
  • Assist the CEO in maintaining positive relationships with all client organizations, with all sources of funding for the agency, with all peer organizations, with all relevant government entities and representatives, and with the public
  • Provide leadership and assistance in the development and ongoing revision of a comprehensive agency business model designed to achieve financial sustainability within a framework of services that is aligned with the mission of the agency
  • Assume overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of all of the functions and activities that are supervised by agency managers who report to the COO
  • Works with the CEO and the Director of Finance in the development of agency-friendly financial management and reporting strategies and in the refinement of a set of management metrics to predict outcomes
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate organizational risks.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the development and implementation of technology strategies to support organizational goals.
  • Oversee the maintenance and security of IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by CEO
