Children’s Dance Theater, with three locations (Auburn,Federal Way & Maple Valley) is looking for a highly organized, reliable and cheerful person to join our team as a theater teacher. Candidates must have extensive prior theater education and teaching experience. Must enjoy being around children and working in a bustling environment.
Job Summary
Plan, lead an exceptional theater class in the appropriate style to industry standards. Instructors must maintain a positive classroom environment that contributes to the studio’s founding value of age appropriate choreography, costumes and music. All teachers must implement safe teaching techniques and expectations when working with students
Children’s Dance Theater offers two theater groupings. The “Present a Scene Classes” are for our youngest actors (ages 3-5 and 5-7)and typically have a song and a bit of simple dialogue before and after. The expectation is to have a 20-30 minute show at the end. Directors may be required to create the script and provide descriptions for families on what to wear for the performance.

Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive previous theater training at a high level for a minimum of 5 years
- Working knowledge and ability to teach theater to all ages, levels and abilities
- Ability to motivate and coach young students to perform and achieve results
- Excellent interpersonal communication, organization, planning and customer service skills
- Availability to work ALL scheduled classes, rehearsals and performance. Including evenings and weekends (if needed)
- Demonstrate kindness with students, colleagues and parents
- Maintain our positive atmosphere

Physical Requirements
- Access to a reliable source of transportation
- Requires standing for long periods of time
- Able to make visual and auditory evaluation of student work and performance
- Physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency
- Lift a minimum of 40 pounds
- Work indoors or outdoors
- Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children
Job Type: Part Time
Pay: $25-35 per hour, DOE
Schedule options:
CDT is able to begin a class(s) in Federal Way Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday or Saturday morning.
CDT is able to begin a class(s) in Auburn on Wednesday or Saturday morning
CDT is able to begin a class(s) in Maple Valley on Friday or Saturday morning.
