Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Classroom Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic success. This role involves planning and delivering lessons, assessing student progress, and collaborating with parents and staff to support each child's development. A strong understanding of childhood development and behavior management is essential for this position.
Duties
- Implement and prepare developmentally appropriate activities through the classroom curriculum (including but not limited to projects, art, story time, etc.)
- Maintain a balance of activities in language and literature, music, fine and large motor skills, numbers and counting, discovery and science activities, dramatic play, and arts/crafts.
- Maintain regular observation and evaluation of children's development and progress as directed by the administration
- Maintain portfolio for each student
- Prepare weekly lesson plans
- Lead teachers will supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers.
- Support children across the curriculum
Daily Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Ensure the safety of each child enrolled whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas;
- Daily maintenance and responsibility for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and cleanliness of the classroom learning environment
- Create safe and appropriate diapering, toileting, and handwashing areas and help children with all personal hygiene skills
- Nurture positive relationships with parents and establish consistent communication
- Inform parents of child's progress through Parent/Teacher conferences and other classroom communications sources
- Provide additional assistance to children with special needs
- Attend to children who are not well or appear upset
- Motivate and encourage students
- Supervise students during school trips or activities
- Attend meetings when required
Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

- Compassion and Sensitivity towards children
- Knowledge of the Creative Curriculum a plus
- Ability to use a computer
- Can work well under pressure
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to a variety of circumstances
- Display maturity and professionalism at all times
Experience
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- An associate or bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education or a complementary degree is preferred but not required.
- WI Registry Certificate - minimum Level 7 or higher for Lead Teachers
- CPR/First Aid, SIDS/Shaken Baby Certified/ purple crying or be willing to obtain
- Obtain certifications in Pediatric First Aid and CPR within six months of employment
- Have an Understanding of Wisconsin Early Learning Standards
- Proficient knowledge of DCF Rules and Regulation guiding Child Care a plus
