Position Summary

The Clinic Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the clinic, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, efficient workflows, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This role provides leadership to both clinical and non-clinical staff, overseeing the implementation of standardized practices, processes, and protocols to optimize clinic performance and enhance patient outcomes.

The Clinic Nurse Manager collaborates closely with providers and department managers to ensure consistency in care quality, service delivery, access, resource utilization, employee and provider satisfaction, and workplace safety. Additionally, this position plays a key role in maintaining nursing professional practice standards and ensuring staff competency in accordance with licensure and regulatory requirements. While primarily a leadership role, the Clinic Nurse Manager may provide direct patient care as needed to maintain clinical expertise and competency.

Role and Responsibilities

Stewardship

  • Assist with developing and implementing clinic policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Ensure operational and clinic performance standards are met for assigned teams.
  • Oversees the clinical operations and activities for one or multiple locations.
  • Participates in revenue optimization in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitor and communicate clinic and operations performance metrics and identify areas for improvement (e.g., patient wait times, schedule utilization, medication administration compliance and accuracy, appointment scheduling).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Establish a cadence for daily clinic huddles and regular meetings with direct reports to encourage and inspire all employees to thrive in their roles.
  • Manages the clinic’s budget to ensure spending is within budget allocation; monitors and controls expenditures and provides input to the budget planning process. This includes ordering clinic supplies and maintaining inventory for clinic operations.

Customer Experience

  • Oversee the patient experience, ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all clients and staff.
  • Demonstrates excellence in customer service, service recovery, and complaint resolution skills, escalating to senior leadership when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to optimize care delivery and patient satisfaction.
  • Drive a high standard of exceptional patient care by demonstrating empathy, developing trust, listening, and supporting a vulnerable patient population.
  • Assist with clinical and administrative duties as needed.

Technical Performance and Precision

  • Monitor and manage the clinic’s staffing needs, ensuring that clinical and administrative staffing levels align with patient needs and budget constraints.
  • Maintain staff schedules and assignments to sustain efficient operations and control labor costs, while ensuring that patient care standards and productivity targets are met.
  • Coordinate the use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other technology systems to improve clinic efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and management across all clinic operations including but not limited to, payroll, clinical documentation, schedules, and reporting.
  • Review timekeeping records and process payroll for the clinic.
  • Participate as needed in the recruitment process of clinical and administrative staff.
  • Oversee the training, scheduling, and performance management of clinical and administrative staff to ensure a high level of productivity and patient care.
  • Implement strategies to optimize workflow efficiency and monitor staff performance metrics, providing coaching and support as needed to meet productivity goals.
  • Provides clinical leadership and oversight of staff in delivering nursing and other clinical services in alignment with professional practice standards.
  • Oversees the implementation, supervision, and maintenance of clinical practice and quality management standards, as well as staff competencies, in compliance with regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensures patient safety at the point of care.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of clinic strategies, programs, and policies in coordination with organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of applicable leadership experience in healthcare management is required, preferably in a mental health setting.

Technology Requirements

  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.

Travel

  • Local travel between clinics is required 25% of the time.
