Full job description

The Clinical Float position is a unique member of the team that is trained in both front office tasks such as answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and assisting the Patient Engagement Coordinator role with other outstanding clinic tasks. Additionally, this role will float to a Medical Assistant rooming patients, working closely with the providers, and carrying out any other patient care needs.

This role reports directly to the Clinic Manager and will collaborate with the clinic’s team on deliverables, initiatives, and process improvement. This position requires someone to be able to collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure smooth patient care and office operations as well as be adaptable to various tasks and responsibilities within the healthcare setting.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

  • Deliver exceptional customer services
  • Proficient use of electronic medical records & Knowledge of paper charts preferred.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Products
  • Proficient telephone skills
  • Ensure faxes and telephone calls are returned in a timely manner
  • Stocking all areas including exam room, bathroom, and front desk areas

Front Office

  • Greeting patients as they enter
  • Maintain a clean and orderly reception area
  • Scheduling Appointments
  • Answering incoming calls and inquires
  • Returning voicemail messages
  • Checking in patients for appointments ensuring that all information is collected and entered accurately into the practice management system

Medical Assistant

  • Assist in patient examinations and procedures
  • Rooming patients for multiple providers
  • Obtain and record vital signs, maintaining accurate medical and surgical histories, reconciling all medications and Allergies
  • Proficient in motivational interviewing of patients
  • Preforming basic medical procedures such as phlebotomy, administering injections, sterile technique, medication administration
  • Conduct provider guided general patient education and effective communication
  • Clean and stock exam rooms between visits as needed

SUPPORTING JOB DUTIES:

  • Comply with all policies, procedures, guidelines, and workflows.
  • Supporting Pine Springs Vision and Values
  • Perform safe work practices to protect the health and safety of employees and patients per OSHA regulation.
  • Protect individually identifiable health information per HIPAA regulation.
  • Document proper and timely communication within patient records
  • Complete all required compliance training with the established timeline.
  • Assist in resolving patient issues or challenges that may arise, escalating when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years of healthcare experience required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Previous experience in outpatient clinic setting preferred.

Education, certification, and licensure:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certificate preferred.
  • CPR Required

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Required within the first 12 months of hire. the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technology Association (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) or the National Health Career Association (NHA) OR licensure as EMT basic or higher, Oregon LPN, or Oregon RN. BLS/CPR required.

Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures. Knowledge of standard office machines including copier, fax, shredder, multi-line telephone, printer, etc. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently using good judgment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software products and medical terminology preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
