We are seeking a detailed-oriented Clinical Laboratory Scientist, to join our team.

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist is someone who can work in a fast-paced setting. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will perform technical laboratory procedures, analyze statistical data, and report results to predict and diagnose disease and provide quality care. Provide age-appropriate care by following established technical protocols based on patient age, using appropriate instrumentation, and reporting and interpreting results based on normal ranges.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s in medical technology or science.
  • One of the following is required:
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CLS
  • Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist by ASCP
  • Certification as a Clinical Lab Specialist (CLS) by NCA
  • Certification in Molecular Biology (MB), Molecular Pathology (MP), Blood Banking (BB), Chemistry (C), Hematology (H), or Microbiology (M) by ASCP
  • Valid Medical Technologist license
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to operate mechanical, electrical, and computer

controlled instrumentation.

  • Must have a working knowledge of PCs and Lab Information Systems
  • Specializes in point-of-care testing with solid knowledge of COLA requirements.

Essential Job functions and responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic test procedures accurately according to the written policies and procedures.
  • Follows the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
  • Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or report test results and either corrects the problems or immediately notifies management.
  • Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
  • Will work Full-Time schedule as assigned.

Nonessential Job Functions:

  • Exercise independent judgment in error identification and problem-solving.
  • Report works accurately, legibly, and by the abnormal and critical values criteria.
  • Work efficiently and respond to stats and other priority tests to provide optimum patient care.
  • Interact professionally with lab personnel and with other hospital departments.
  • Assist with evaluating equipment and procedures, orienting new employees, and training students.
  • Will comply with universal precautions and adhere to safety standards and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor/department director.
  • Maintain patient care areas with appropriate supplies.
  • Assist with patient restraints and maintain precautions; collect, report, and document data related to patient needs/emergencies and unusual patient and family behavior.
  • Attend staff meetings or other company-sponsored or mandated meetings as required.
