Full job description
Status: Full Time / Non-Exempt
Shift: Monday - Friday (12:00pm - 8:30pm)
Summary: The Assistant Supervisor conducts daily routine planning to ensure quality service cost, and productivity. This ensures inspections, preventative maintenance care, Molecular Respiratory Panel Testing, and safe equipment operating procedures are followed. Completes successful training to align with SOP's and competency checklists. Ensuring records are kept up-to-date and maintained in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Maintains knowledge of CAP/CLIA regulations. Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and uniform policies, always appearing neat and clean. Achieves desired level of competency for the main departmental processes and responsibilities within 6 months. Communicate effectively with the entire flow staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform sample preparation and analytical testing of specimens
- Carry out required quality assurance procedures such as quality control testing, instrument calibration, and function checks, including periodic maintenance
- Resolve technical problems whenever possible, effectively perform troubleshooting of equipment, communicate with technical support and supervisors, and document corrective action
- Complete and maintain accurate laboratory records
- Understand and assist in instructing laboratory personnel in test principles and techniques
- Assists with the development, organization, and validation of new tests
- Helps with administrative duties including writing and maintain procedures, completing proficiency testing, and maintaining supply inventory as needed
- Prepare reagent stock and working solutions
- Monitors proper use and consumption of reagents, materials, and consumables
- Performs other related duties as needed and deemed by Supervisor
- Supervise the day-to-date operations of the Molecular Department, scheduling, development training and annual appraisals
- Assist with overseeing the laboratory processing
- Perform scheduling, planning, staffing, and monitoring of workflow to meet established goals
- Provide staff development through feedback aimed towards performance development and review
- Procure appropriate supplies and equipment to maximize department efficiency
- Complete performance evaluations for all staff as needed
Additional Responsibilities (may be assigned)
- Perform other duties as assigned by Department Management
Education: BA/BS degree or equivalent experience preferred
Experience: Two (2) or more years' experience in the Clinical Lab; prior experience in a clinical laboratory preferred. Experience in Infectious Molecular Biology and/or Clinical Lab is a plus but not required
Qualification Requirements
- Strong computer skills to accomplish tasks
- Computer literate, with average typing speed and proficiency in MS Office products (i.e., Word and Excel)
- Ability to work in a biohazard environment and follow safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual

Pay: From $55.00 per hour
