CNC Lathe Machinists II/III - DAY, SWING AND WEEKEND SHIFT
SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS FOR SWING AND WEEKEND
Qualified Production & Development provides custom machining and manufacturing services to the semi-conductor and other industries. Our Hillsboro location provides contract manufacturing services for machining and assembly with cleanroom capabilities. We are ISO certified and meet additional quality standards as required by our customers.
POSITION SNAPSHOT
Our team is growing, and we are seeking skilled, experienced CNC Lathe Machinists to join our weekend shift team. Under General Supervision of the Production Manager, the role's primary responsibility will be to setup and operate lathes to create machined parts and the tooling to produce them. Extensive experience working in manufacturing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently are all qualities we are looking for in a candidate. Schedule:
- Day Shift (Monday - Thursday, 10 hour days)
- Swing Shift (Monday - Thursday, 10 hour days)
- Weekend shift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday. 12 hour days)
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
CNC Lathe Machinist II:
- Setup CNC lathe machines, tools and fixtures
- Operate CNC lathe machines, run and measure parts
- Wash parts in soapy water with isopropyl alcohol to remove cutting fluids from blind/tapped holes and blow dry
- Read traveler for operation to be processed and study corresponding blueprints reflected on the traveler
- Machine maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area
- Train CNC Machinist I coworkers
- Follow all safety and Quality requirements
- Other duties assigned.
CNC Lathe Machinist III/Programmer, you will also:
- Use your advanced skills to develop programs for machines based on solid models and drawings including 5-axis programming
- Write programs at the machine controller using G code. Work closely with NPI teams to develop methods for manufacturing of designs.
- Design and manufacture fixturing.
- Provide input to estimators on machine run times, fixturing and tooling requirements.
- Train CNC Machinist II coworkers
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 2-5 years CNC Lathe machining experience on 3,4 and 5 axis machines.
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, documents and modelling, with the ability to offset changes independently.
- Knowledge and ability to use basic measuring tools (0-6 caliper, 0-1micrometer, dial indicator, bore mics, etc.) and ability to maintain visual quality of parts. Machinists are expected to own their own tools or be willing to purchase them over time.
- Knowledge and ability to convert metric measurements to inch measurements.
- Knowledge and ability to work with close tolerances (ten thousandths).
- Knowledge and ability to run assigned jobs and run first parts.
- Knowledge and ability to edit programs as needed.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
A temperature-controlled production shop floor environment requiring sitting/standing for extended periods of time; occasional lifting of up to 25-60 lbs.; occasionally crouching or bending at the knees. Exposure to dirt and dust. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, shields etc.) may be required. May operate moving equipment (forklift) as required to perform essential job functions. General shop environment with exposure to moderate levels of noise in a well-lit, well-ventilated, and fast paced setting.
Workload may be unpredictable, and pressure increased during peak times. Critical deadlines require considerable flexibility and adaptability. Disturbances of workflow and/or irregularities in work schedule may occur on an intermittent basis. Extra hours may be required, sometimes on weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
