Full job description
Barefoot Coffee Roasters is one of the top small batch roasters in the Bay Area. From artisan roasting in small batches to serving exceptional hand-crafted coffee drinks, Barefoot Coffee Roasters team members observe all aspects of the specialty coffee industry.
APPRENTICE ROASTER/WAREHOUSE PRODUCTION: seeking someone interested in learning the art of coffee roasting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with roasting and blending coffees (once trained)
- Help fulfill daily coffee orders
- Weekly cleaning/maintenance of roasters
- Participate in QC/cuppings
- Process and package coffee orders
- General roastery organization/maintenance
- Possible work as barista if seeking additional hours
Experience sought
- Demonstrate a passion for specialty coffee
- Previous roasting or specialty coffee experience a plus but not necessary
- Concentration and focus
- Ability to listen, learn and follow through
- Basic technical aptitude and willingness to learn technical equipment details
- *This job requires regular heavy lifting
Work Days
The day(s) roasting will be flexible and determined by our head roaster. It may only be one day to start. So we are open to part time candidates who work 1-2 days at our roasting facility only, and candidates interested in working additional hours at our cafe in Campbell as a barista. Part time can also grow to more hours.
Barista responsibilities
- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages with enthusiasm and precision
- Engage with customers in a friendly, professional manner, providing exceptional customer service and product recommendations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food handling, food safety practices, and food preparation standards
- Possibly light food prep
- Note: there will be different pay rates if working at the roastery and the cafe as the baristas also receive tips
Experience
- Previous barista experience or familiarity with coffee preparation techniques is preferred but not required
- Ability to multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and ability to communicate clearly
- Experience in the food industry or retail environment is advantageous but not mandatory; enthusiasm for learning is key
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
