Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Structural Steel Estimator with a strong background in commercial steel take-offs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of steel fabrication and erection based on project specifications and drawings, and will play a crucial role in the successful bidding and execution of commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Estimating & Take-Offs: Perform detailed material take-offs and cost estimates for commercial structural steel projects. Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive bids.
• Bid Preparation: Develop and submit comprehensive bid proposals, including detailed cost breakdowns and scopes of work. Collaborate with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure all aspects of the project are covered.
• Cost Analysis: Assess and analyze project costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses. Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors. Build and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials.
• Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges in the project scope and incorporate them into the estimates. Develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and correspondence. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management and clients.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements and address any questions or concerns related to estimates and proposals.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, standards, and best practices. Implement improvements to estimating processes and tools as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a structural steel estimator with a focus on commercial steel take-offs.
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, commercial construction practices, and estimating principles.
• Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, Tekla, EPM, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Proven track record of delivering accurate estimates and successful bids.
