The USET Communications Manager is responsible for the standardization and improvement of communication efforts for the organization. This position will be tasked with the implementation of both internal and external communications strategies. This position will hold supervisory responsibility over staff within the communications team.

Exempt/Non-Exempt and Salary Range:
The Communications Manager is an exempt position with a salary range starting at $83,431.00/year.

Location:
Nashville Headquarters

Reporting Relationship:
The Communications Manager is supervised by the Development Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Create, implement, and oversee the organization’s communication efforts to ensure continued relevance, completeness, and updating.

2. Assigns and reviews work; establishes standards and evaluates performance; obtains approval for and takes disciplinary actions; and participates in the selection and training of the communications team.

3. Ensure the USET style guidelines and tone are consistently incorporated in all communication, to maintain organizational brand consistency and identity.

4. Lead collaboration with USET staff to fully understand programmatic and advocacy areas within the organization to best gather all materials and resources necessary to develop the most effective communications technique. Preferred knowledge of Public Health Communications Strategies.

5. Oversee the creation and coordination of multimedia packages for all USET programmatic departments.

6. Arrange for photography and/or press coverage for organization and programmatic special events.

7. Oversee the evaluation of public health campaigns when completed.

8. Develop materials to educate staff on communications practices and priorities.

9. Support USET projects by leading communications plans, ensuring they effectively convey the intended messaging and support overall goals.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field.

2. 3-5 years’ experience in a management role at a nonprofit, Tribal, or public health organization.

3. Experience working directly with communications strategies. Applicants should have extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.

4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, colleagues, and both internal and external contacts.

5. Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people and across a broad range of programmatic service areas.

6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

7. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

8. Self-reliant, a good problem solver and results oriented.

9. Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
