Position Status: Two-year contract;Full-time; 40 hours per week
Position Overview & Basic Function:
Foster Angels of South Texas (FAST) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in foster care. We are committed to ensuring children in care have their basic needs met and whenever possible provide life enhancing opportunities to help create a sense of normalcy. FAST is searching for a Communications & Partnerships Coordinator who is looking for an exciting opportunity to help further the mission of Foster Angels. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a background in crafting compelling messages that resonate with donors and supporters and will also help co-create and execute strategic goals; diversify and expand current fundraising strategies with an emphasis on individual, corporate, special events and third party. In addition, the coordinator will oversee social media accounts and marketing material designs. The coordinator will work with the Executive Director and Program team on the larger fundraising and programmatic events throughout the year.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Writing and editing newsletters, blog posts, and other promotional materials that highlight Foster Angel’s activities, achievements, and goals.
- Managing social media platforms by creating and posting content, engaging with followers, and creating new campaign strategies. The coordinator ensures that Foster Angels has a consistent, positive presence across various channels to engage supporters and donors.
- Arranging interviews and securing media coverage to increase awareness of the organization’s work.
- Tracking the success of communication campaigns by analyzing metrics such as engagement, reach, and feedback to refine future strategies and improve overall effectiveness.
- Utilizing donor database and donation platform to create reports and updates on funds raised, including data entry.
- Supporting the promotion of fundraising events and other year-round activities through targeted communications and marketing strategies. This may involve developing flyers, brochures, and digital content to attract participants and donors.
- Active participation in annual fundraising and program events to include Coastal Bend Day of Giving, Champions of Courage Luncheon, Rio Grande Valley Luncheon, Heart Gallery events, and back to school and holiday efforts.
- Establishing, developing, and maintaining new partnerships with key donors, including corporate sponsors, and grantmaking organizations. This involves outreach and networking at community events to grow Foster Angel’s network.
- Working closely with fundraising staff to identify areas where partnerships can support the Foster Angels of South Texas’ goals.
- Supporting the organization’s events by introducing new sponsorships and collaborative opportunities with external partners and assisting in the event planning process.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- An interest in and commitment to Foster Angel’s mission to help children in foster care ∙

- Superior interpersonal, verbal & written communications skills
- Self-starter and ability to work independently while being a good team player
- Effective time management, able to meet deadlines & reliable

- An outgoing, people-oriented personality
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field and minimum of one-year related work experience
- Microsoft Office & Google Suite proficiency
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
- Experience in foster care system or non-profit organization field
- Experience in Mailchimp, Canva and Bloomerang
Other
- Background check; must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Commitment to work-life balance with collaborative, knowledge sharing and supportive team dynamic
- Attend key events during the year including some weekend work and travel required programming events
