Our goal is to Provide education and support to empower diverse, at-risk and underserved U.S. populations Collaborate with community stakeholders in adapting scientific research to address local health needs Develop innovative strategies to improve population health Design and implement programs that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
TITLE: Communications Specialist
LOCATION: NCHPTucson Office
SUMMARY: The Communications Specialist (CS) is responsible for developing and managing NCHP’s communication initiatives in Pima and Yuma Counties. The CS will uphold NCHP’s brand, image, and develop strategies to increase public knowledge of NCHP Sgt. Fox Suicide Prevention project. The CS will conduct press conferences or written press releases. Will implement on-going informed communication efforts designed to prevent Veteran suicides. Along with Project Director will communicate with policy makers the need for Veteran Suicide Prevention programs. Develop and implement efforts to reach Veterans. The CS will increase multiplatform efforts that promote intervention strategies, and increase knowledge that promote Veteran wellness and recovery. Work with other agencies, policy makers to reduce stigma with suicidal behaviors, mental health, and substance abuser disorders.
SUPERVISOR: Project Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s in Business or Public Relations/ Marketing, and 5 years’ experience in the media and communication field.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to organize local, state and federal strategies to address Veteran Suicide Prevention efforts.
- Research and identify local, state, federal, and private funds to address Veteran services.
- Assists with web-site development.
- Excellent creative writing skills.
- Excellent customer relationship management skills
- Detail oriented
- Training and experience in public speaking.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Able to perform work activities in a high pressure and time sensitive environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement strategic integrated marketing communications.
- Performs digital and in-person communication.
- Will oversee all NCHP public affairs.
- Perform direct and social marketing.
- Perform presentations locally, and state.
- Perform traditional advertising.
- Provide policymakers with information to address Veteran suicides.
- Research areas in Veteran Suicide (eg. VA, SAMSHA, CDC, HRSA, etc) and determine appropriateness for NCHP SSG Fox website and social media.
- Other duties as required.
SKILLS:
- Excellent writing skills
- Experience in developing marketing campaigns.
