Full job description
Position Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the Community Life Coordinator in every facet of the overall planning and implementation of a varied activity program designed to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our residents. Successful candidates must be detail oriented and passionate about working with women, their children and life recovery, as well as understand the importance of confidentiality and resident rights. This position is responsible for supporting the CLC with residence life operations and for enforcing residence life policies and procedures. The overall goal is to provide a long-term, residential, and therapeutic community for women and their children to break adverse cycles and rebuild their families.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Commit to and implement the TDARS faith-based, Christ-centered program values and statement of faith.

- Assist with facilitating healthy and positive interactions for participants and their children in a culturally supportive way.
- Support CLC in coordinating and providing recreation activities, such as, discussion groups, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outings, special events, and one-on-one visits, as indicated.
- Participate in or contribute to monthly Care Plan Meetings as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of residents’ progress and responses to program utilizing the program database and other forms of documentation or logs.
- Support Community Life Coordinator when needed in volunteer engagement activities.
- Be aware of signs of emotional distress, child abuse and neglect, and comply with mandatory reporting procedures for child abuse and neglect.
- Show professional work habits by: keeping spoken and written information confidential, respecting others, using time constructively and dependability.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and with the entire team in admission and discharge activities.
- Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor or Recovery Program Officer.
- Attend at least one training session per year on cultural competency.
- Will be required to work evenings and/or weekends hours to support the success of the program – this includes weekly on-call duties.
- Support families to build positive social networks.
- Transport residents to/from appointments.
- Administer (observed) drug screens per drug screen procedure.
- Support Community Life Coordinator with medication management activities.
- Support and assist with resident visitation and passes (scheduling and supervision).
- Assist Community Life Coordinator with group facilitation as needed.
- Collaborate with the team in planning, training, retention, and providing support to participants and their children.
- Actively support a trauma informed and responsive work environment as demonstrated in the 5 core values of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.
- Adhere to COA standards for accreditation in every aspect of the program.
- Seek to optimize use of donated and free resources and to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Help to meet the quality improvement efforts of Tamassee DAR School by supporting and encouraging a culture of excellence and continual improvement.
- Perform related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years’ work experience directly with target population with emphasis in family systems. Prior experience in the substance use field is highly desired to include recovery advocacy experience, and/or peer support certification. Must have at least 5 years continuous recovery from a substance use disorder, if applicant is in recovery.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to programming.
- Must have a valid SC Driver’s License with a clean motor vehicle record.
- Able to (or able to learn to) drive 15 passenger van/s and mini-buses.
- Flexibility to work extended program hours, especially as seasons and service needs change.
- Must have excellent Interpersonal Skills and Collaborative Skills.
- Understanding of Cultural Competency.

Additional Leadership Duties:
- Serve as a member of the Starlight Team
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the Recovery Program Officer
