Job Title: Navigator – Detroit Quick Response Team (QRT)
Reports To: Program Manager, Detroit QRT
Classification: Full-Time | Grant-Funded
Location: Detroit, MI

Position Overview:

The Navigator for the Detroit Quick Response Team (QRT) plays a vital role in supporting daily operations and ensuring timely response to overdose incidents and public safety referrals. Acting as the central point of coordination, this position organizes outreach activities, manages real-time data, and supports the team both in the office and in the field when needed.

Most shifts will be scheduled from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with rotating weekend coverage required. Flexibility in hours is essential, based on the needs of the team and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Overdose & Outreach Coordination:

  • Monitor and enter overdose data into the internal tracking system.
  • Contact area hospitals to confirm patient status for follow-up outreach.
  • Prepare and prioritize QRT visit forms based on urgency (non-transports, recent overdoses, follow-ups).
  • Re-route teams in real time based on incoming overdose alerts or hospital discharges.
  • Track and update shift activity reports using internal spreadsheets.

Operational Support:

  • Participate in outreach efforts when additional support is needed.
  • Assist with hospital responses and overdose follow-ups in the field.
  • Support the day-to-day functioning of the Detroit QRT office, including organizing materials and keeping team tools updated and accessible.
  • Create and assemble harm reduction/outreach kits.
  • Help coordinate volunteers and assist with onboarding.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize in fast-paced situations.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate a mobile team in real-time.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
  • Comfortable using spreadsheets, email, and data tracking tools (Google Workspace preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Compassionate and nonjudgmental approach to working with individuals impacted by substance use.
  • Flexibility in schedule, including early mornings and rotating weekends.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practices.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in harm reduction, behavioral health, peer support, or emergency response.
  • Familiarity with Detroit communities and public safety or healthcare systems.
  • Lived experience or a strong understanding of substance use disorder and recovery is a plus.

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
