Program Overview: The Connect Program seeks students who need mentors to stand in the gaps of their relationships to help heal, grow, succeed, and learn how to become productive men and women in their communities. During memory-making events, intentional conversations about character, leadership, and wellness are held to inspire and motivate students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating 1:1 mentoring sessions
  • Small group mentoring
  • Lunchtime support and activities
  • Maintaining daily attendance and casenotes/data collection utilizing our existing Apricot system
  • Provide light administrative support to the program
  • Administering student surveys working closely with Program Supervisor
  • Capable of creating a well-thought-out weekly schedule for Lunch Activities (Program Supervisor will assist)
  • Capable of navigating G-mail, Google drive, Google calendar , Google sheets etc.
  • Capable of confidently communicating with school administrators and teachers
  • Participate in weekly Connect program meetings
  • Attend coalition/collaborative meetings with administrators/counselors/school partners
  • Act as a resource and guide to students
  • Establish appropriate boundaries/relationships with the students
  • Capable of communicating with guardians (call, email, text, in person)
  • Able to support multiple sites throughout the week if needed

Major Duties:

  • Plan, implement, perform, and evaluate Connect events.
  • Create/edit/monitor the event’s Google form
  • Create the master list of attendees
  • Assign the transportation duties
  • Working closely with the Connect Program Supervisor to ensure the event’s Rap Sheet upholds the organizational goals, vision, values, and mission.
  • Ensures that Rap Sheet’s are completed 2 weeks prior to the event, detailed, and structured effectively
  • Provide direct supervision of students
  • Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as required
  • Seek event opportunities
  • Ensure the respectful use of and maintenance of the physical space used by the students Maintain event spaces in a neat and orderly manner, assist with cleanup as necessary
  • Plan, delegate, and/or set up everything needed for the event
  • Ensure the safety of students by following safety plan and transportation procedures
  • Assist staff, volunteers, and students by being a positive role model and providing emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance
  • Help facilitate a productive environment for students and mentors to benefit from relationships
  • Plan/delegate and/or lead focused activities
  • Communicate effectively the goals and desired outcomes of every Mentor Connect event by ensuring strong, detailed, and timely Rap Sheets
  • Complete end-of-day reporting and weekly goal reporting (Fridays) and Trello cards

Schedule Requirements:

  • Hours and days are flexible, with Fridays and Saturdays being a busy day of planning and carrying out most events
  • attend the weekly check in’s with the team and supervisor
  • Continuous personal development and training required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Submit current, clear TB (tuberculosis) test
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US
  • Obtain CPR and First Aid certification or be currently certified
  • High school Diploma
  • Reliable transportation Mental / Emotional Ability Requirements:

  • Possess leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • An interest in and/or a background in community service and volunteerism

Safety Requirements:

  • Ability to be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the program's safety policies and rules
  • Be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
