Overview
Nutex Health is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Accounting Specialist to support the financial operations of our commercial healthcare construction projects. This role will assist with job cost tracking, accounts payable and receivable, and financial record maintenance using Workday, Procore and Excel. The ideal candidate has construction accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and a high level of accuracy and organization.
Responsibilities
- Handle full-cycle construction accounting, including job costing
- Manage project cost tracking, budget analysis, and variance reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Process accounts payable and support accounts receivable functions (equity contributions)
- Perform and review bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations
- Monitor project billing, retainage, lien waivers, and subcontractor payments
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Coordinate with project managers to review budgets, change orders, and forecasts
- Maintain accurate financial records and organized documentation
- Support cash flow management and financial planning
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Use Microsoft Excel to create and maintain job cost reports and financial spreadsheets
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of accounting experience in construction industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, financial tracking)
- Strong understanding of job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient 10-key typing and data entry skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with accounts receivable
- Experience performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Familiarity with journal entries and reconciliation processes
- Technical accounting knowledge
- Experience working in a multi-project construction environment
