Spire Custom Homes is looking for a Construction Assistant Contractor. You will assist our Construction Manager with in-field care, maintenance, service, and finalizing of homes for occupancy.

Finish carpentry, punch lists, warranty walk throughs, painting and touch ups. Worksite maintenance and safety. Light errands and travel for supplies and parts as needed. Supervision of progress and communication with CM is crucial. You will be a 1099 independent contractor and hours will vary around the needs of the business.

Pay is between $23 and $28 per hour in addition to travel expenses to job sites. Depending on your level of experience and expertise. Growth opportunity plentiful for the right person.

OBJECTIVE:

To ensure a seamless construction process, and foster a positive relationship with trades, vendors, and fellow team members.

OVERVIEW:

The Construction Assistant (CA) for Spire Custom Homes (Company) is responsible for the day-to-day on-site supervision, care, maintenance and service of jobs under construction and completed by the company. You provide oversight of all in-field trades, ensuring effective and timely communication before, during and after construction of all homes. Work hands on, perform trim, clean-up, organization and other related tasks as may be possible. This includes ensuring the general cleanliness and ability for trades to perform their duties on the job, while maintaining an overall safe and efficient working environment at each site. General oversight of all jobs is your responsibility, and you are to complete punch items to ensure on time closings.

Perform daily tasks that would generally include job site cleanliness, temporary heat set up, water control, window screens, fans, dehumidifiers, snow and all other generally related on-site tasks as would typically fall through the cracks with many suppliers and vendors. Make sure homes are secure, tubs and flooring are covered to prevent damage, and minor framing details are addressed in a timely manner.

Perform walk throughs with sales/ construction team members and the clients as applicable, create punch lists, and ensure all punch lists items are completed timely, allowing, as applicable, for any and all necessary charge backs. Complete work correctly and thoroughly the first time to eliminate return visits, communicate effectively with any staff and customers as needed, complete all work required in a timely and efficient manner. Ensure EPA guidelines for storm water are followed, monitor and track daily items to ensure the ability of the company and the trades you contract with to produce a quality product, on time, and with limited issues relating to the overall appearance of the job. This position is directly responsible for contributing to the overall efficiency of the company and its ability to constantly improve on its delivery of the product.

PRIMARY LOCATION: In field work

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work with CM to discuss schedule and provide feedback regarding possible obstacles and timeline changes.

2. Monitor the jobs and job-site, track all trade deficiencies, and provide oversight and guidance to all trades as needed to complete projects as defined

3. Accountable to ensure measures are being taken to create a safe and clean job-site, both inside and outside the home. May include light snow removal, preventative safety and cleanliness measures.

4. Ensure all areas of the company’s OSHA and EPA requirements are maintained and met at all times. Provide feedback to CM immediately if not.

5. Install hardware, trim, weather proofing, touch up paint, etc. as required.

6. Monitor quality of work performed by trades, reporting any required changes, releases or additions immediately to the company for evaluation.

7. Follow up on warranty work and ensure it is completed in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY ALSO INCLUDE:

1. Attend all required company and customer meetings as requested by CM

2. Track unallocated materials and inventory along with CM.

3. Track and manage equipment maintenance per direction of CM

4. Maintain any storage facilities used by or for the company

5. Taking apart or constructing scaffolding, bracing and other temporary structures for the construction site

6. Digging trenches and backfill holes to prepare for the construction site

7. Following instructions from construction project managers and supervisors

8. Loading and unloading building materials

9. Cleaning the construction site by removing hazards materials and debris from the worksite

10. Assisting craft workers such as carpenters or electricians with their duties, if needed

11. Light errands for materials as needed per project.
